Speaking of the factory stay on cover, yes they are very nicely made. I have one on one scope but I wouldn't buy it again. I only did it because it was a new model at the time and no one had one to fit other than Swaro. The SOC doesn't protect everything, it's not the fastest to unzip/un-snap and get it ready to use plus they are more expensive than pretty much everyone else. I'd rather have an old school full coverage with zippers and velcro to hold the ends open.

Outdoor Vision makes a somewhat replica of the Swaro stay-on ones. They are way less expensive and good quality. I run one on my 80mm ATS (they make them for the "X" models too). You can get them from blackovis and places like that. The full Marsupial gear cases are good options too.

A few options out there.

https://www.marsupialgear.com/collections/spotting-scope-btx-cases - these are more for packing, not a wear it all the time type of case.

I had the Swaro SOC on my ATM - even though it was obscenely expensive I liked the protection and the ease of removing the eyepiece and objective covers.

When I upgraded to the ATX & BTX I bought the entire Swaro SOC. Swaro changed the eyepiece & objective cover to magnetic close instead of the snaps used on the ATM version.

I hate the magnets - the glass still has the plastic cover protection on the objective and the rubber cap protection on the eyepiece, but the fabric SOC constantly detaches at the magnets when the scope is in my pack.

I'd recommend you consider a different solution...

I couldn’t justify the cost of the Swaro stay on covers. I picked up 2 marsupial gear zippered covers (one for each objective size) and have been happy with them. They don’t protect the scope while in use though, only in transit.

I have the new KOWA 99S and there is no SOC yet so I wrapped mine in vet tape. I also carry it in an EBERLESTOCK Batwing. The Batwing was the only pouch I could find that was long enough.

I like to pack my ATM 65mm Swaro naked except for the stock objective lens cap and a neoprene beverage can kozzie over the eye piece....held on by the sight tube thru a slit I cut in the koozie. neoprene. The little rubber Swaro eye piece cover that comes with the scope was always falling off in the pack and the eye piece lens was quite vulnerable to getting abraded then.

After 11 seasons of significant use the Swaro still looks good. It is typically stored in the center water bladder pocket in one of my Kifaru packs. No metal gear stored in the water bladder compartment next to it.

I had a King's camo neoprene cover I sold as it added too much volume and weight and I did not feel I needed it. So far that is correct.

There’s plenty of knock off neoprene covers for a fraction of swaro cost. The vet tape isn’t a bad idea, lighter and slimmer if you’re basically just trying to keep it from the occasional scrape. My buddy gave me some tape for my bow to put on a spot by the rest so it would keep things quiet if I accidentally tapped it while getting the arrow in, it was a camo thin felt type material and the tape was sticky but not duck tape sticky, it’d probably be ideal. I don’t know what it was called but I believe he got it at the local archery shop.

Thanks everyone! I've cross the Swaro off my list for covers; need to decide on just vet tape or go with the Kite (looks very well made)

I might try the vet tape and see how it looks/feels. It won't have any additional protection for either lenses, but maybe the factory lens covers will be sufficient??????

The occular cover won't stay on in a pack. Heck you can knock it off with a slight flick of a finger so doubtful it'll be of any use inside your pack.

I used one these for an 80mm Swaro when Creedmoor sports sold them. They have a custom option for models other than the Kowa. You could see if they'll still do Swaro.

I actually just got the Swaro stay on case for my ATX 65/95 set up. I got a great deal on most of it from the classified here (thanks Cpgfan). I am happy with the Swaro covers, they are a big expense, but so it the spotter they are protecting.

I was looking for an alternative when I found these, just never was completely satisfied with the options.

The vet tape might be a good light weight version, but I would be concerned about the sticky residue it might leave on the spotter (especially with all the temperature changes these things go through) when / if you remove it.

Good luck.

Where do you buy the Kite?

Had to go through a Canadian store as I couldn't find anyone in the us at the time. Retailer is called redravenphoto, if you can't find it I'll pm a link, not sure if I can link here. They directed me to their Amazon store after an email, not sure if it's on their now/if they loaded it for me? Took a bit to get through customs, no idea why but received as promised.

Guess I should have checked Amazon first - looks like most of the Kite covers are available there...
