Swarovski spotters - newer aint better!

Thought I'd share my experience and maybe save someone from a similar situation.

So I finally "upgraded" from a 80 HD STS to a new 95 STX. On first use of the 95 I instantly thought - this isn't as good as my old one. Fast forward to tonight and was able to compare them side by side. Confirmed without a doubt in my mind. The 80 is noticeably better.

No expert, just a hunter who spends his free time looking through a spotting scope. If your thinking of making the change, newer/bigger isn't necessarily better!

A couple years ago I went to an ATX from my ATS…. To my eyes there was no difference and have since went back to an ATS

I wasn’t impressed with the Swaro STX 95 either. I am more impressed with my Kowa TSN 77 25-60 WZ. I like my Swaro STS HD 65 as well. Bought that one in 2020 with all the new coatings and technology. Optics are subjective to everyone though.

Same here, my 80 left never left the truck post stx arrival.

op you might have a bad unit.
I own
ats 65hd
ats80hd
atx 85 & 95
btx
had the atx65
had kowa 88 &77and 54

if I could only chose one it would
be the atx 85.
the ats80 is not as bright or as clear as the atx85.

@223dude its worth the upgrade to the 85mm Atx from the 65 but not the 95? I’m debating upsizing from my 65 just wondering if the juice is worth the squeeze

Yes,
the 85atx is almost as good as the 95mm
but the 85mm is much lighter and smaller.

compared to the 65mm the 85mm is a big step up
in brightness and resolution.

I have a 95mm and an STC..

I sold my 85 because the 95 is that much better imho.

Last night I decided I'm going to dump it. Think I'll send my ELs packing as well. Just never warmed up to them. The eye box is fussy and the lrf just isn't reliable. Loved all my previous Swaros but I think their quality level has took a dump.
