Just curious who all takes theirs on backpacking trips? Its all I've got so its going with me.

If you have some pictures through it with the phoneskope I would love to see them.

My first scouting trip is in 3 weeks and this is the one item I'm most excited about to use in the field.

Stid2677 carries his sheep hunting. When I'm finally able to afford one it will be going in my pack. It's about a pound heavier than my current ATS 80 HD but the view as you know is spectacular !

I rented a the ATS 80 HD last year and was impressed with it. Swaro outdid themselves with the 95.

Shrek, I've read many of your post and just realized you are a flat lander as well. The heat and humidity killing your mountain prep training?

No chance a spotter that huge would find its way into my pack, the weigh is one thing, the space another.
The optics are stellar, but if I can't define what I need with the 65mm HD or even 80mm HD, its probably too marginal to investigate further anyway.

My training is dead due to the heat and humidity. I'm now 48 and my ability to deal with heat is gone. I was helping a friend put up a tree stand this weekend and he's 50 and an hours work at noon took it out of us. It will be a tough fall for me this year. Once I get set up in my new shanty one of the first things I'm buying is a Stairway to Jesus (stairmaster)as Aron calls it. Then an ATX 95 :).

Half the fun for me is taking pictures. If the 95 will let me take capture some better images at distances I all about it. But we will see this is my first time with it.

I'm pushing through in the heat but not loving it. Hopefully it pays off when I get to 12k feet.

Stairway to Jesus! lol, nice. My wife has a treadmill that does 40 degrees. Its not stairs but I feel like I'm crawling up the damn thing with a pack on.

I did some work on my feeders last year around this time. Not the best idea.

I think much of the reason Stid2677 takes his is for photography aslo. I like to bird and animal watch while I hunt so I like the big eye. I spent hours in the middle of the day last couple of years wildlife watching. Keeps me awake and looking and I really enjoy it.

I'd love to spend time with the X series, much less the big 95mm. But I went with the ATS 65 for most of all price, then size and weight (vs the 80 or 95mm). I blew the budget going green, and just couldn't spend the extra $1k to move up to the ATX.

Love the ATS though. I'd say use what you've got.

I'm from the Houston area too, and this heat has been intense! I've been trying to use it to make me tougher by doing most of my training from 1-3 in the afternoon. Not sure if that's the best idea though!
