I am starting to get serious about picking up a spotting scope, primarily for western elk and deer hunting (eventually I hope to put some goat and sheep hunts in as well). I am looking at Swarovski, Leupold, and Vortex. Just looking at the specs there seems to a huge price/weight difference. Does the Swarovski ATS 20-60x65 complete setup really only weigh 48.3oz? The Vortex Razor 22-48x65 is 56.8oz. I don't know if Leupold has a direct comparison (SX-5?) but there seems to be a significant weight savings for the Swarovski. Is it worth it? Should I save the cash and just go with a Leupold GR 12-40x60?
