slc or el? Which model is best and why?

I've been going over the same question myself. I have the SLC's, but was considering dumping my rangefinder and the SLC's and getting the EL Range. I don't know. I read that the EL flat image can give you eye strain if you're panning much. I've also read that the SLC is slightly brighter, and the SLC isn't heavier anymore like it used to be. The SLC is cheaper also. I have the SLC HD and can't say that I've ever been let down thinking I wished I had the EL. For me, I wouldn't get the EL unless you're getting the rangefinder built in. Otherwise, the SLC HD is tough to beat.

I have both and for hunting purposes, I would go with the SLC's.

EL range binos are not HD so they are not quite as good as regular els. Also ELs allow more light then the SLC models but also have different coatings that correct the color so it is unaffected unlike the SLC and other binos will look slightly yellow.

svivian, The HD SLC (91%) have better light transmission than the HD ELs (90%). This is because the ELs have an extra lense.

The ELs have less eye strain because of the field flatteners and more eye relief.

Try to look through both of them. Some people, myself included like the SLC's better.

That said, I use the EL ranges most of the time, I don't feel like I give up enough to either the SLC or ELs to not have the RF.

EL Range doesn't have swarovision or field flattening, believe the glass is the same as non hd slc's.

Both are so good its pathetic... Seriously if anybody wants the best be it Swaro Leica or Zeiss you will not be sorry...

I have used both. For the money, I would get the SLCs. There also a bit lighter.
