I'm looking at getting a used pair of NL 12x42 and I'm wondering what exactly would be serviced if I sent them into Swarovski? Is it worth it just to have them gone through or is it a waste of $?

I was wondering the same thing my swaro arc got stolen luckily I got it back but it was definitely dropped and the lens aren’t in great shape

They do an excellent job. Worth it if you have time.

Reading their website it seems like they'll send a quote before fixing anything. The pair in looking at buying has been used and there is major wear on the grips. Is that something they'll fix or is it the lens and internals?

I’ve heard of guys having the coating on the outside repaired before not sure on the cost though

Don't know that they will fix cosmetic issues under warranty. If you have a weak hinge or something mechanically wrong with them they will.

I agree I don’t think they will under warranty I believe it’s something you have to pay for

The cosmetics don't bug me I'm just curious to what level they will make repairs.

I believe if you ask them to they will complete go through them I remember a shoot2hunt podcast where they talked about sending one back and then replacing external and internal lens

When I sent in two pair of 10 x 42 EL binoculars in April they quoted around 6-8 weeks turn-around. Just got them back a week ago....took around 7 weeks and I live in Canada. The 22 year-old pair.... pre-Swarovision got 3 of 4 new external lenses, a new focusing mechanism, new eye cups and new rubber armor. Plus they totally checked them out optically and refilled with nitrogen. Cost was around $260 US.

The 11 year old Swarovision EL's got cleaned and tested for free with no repairs required. Think I had to pay shipping on them one way.

Seems like great service and a reasonable cost given neither pair had ever been back to Swaro and I'd used the heck out of them!

Swarovski repairs and refurbs are great if you can give them up for a few months. They come back like new regardless of what they go in for.

Repairs have cost me $75-$175 for a scratched lens replacement and a broken dioper mechanism. 2 months turn around time for me.

If you are a hard user you should almost plan to send them in for refurbishing every 5 years even if nothing is “broken.”

I worried about that 20 years ago when I bought a pair of 8x30 Swarovskis for $500. One of these days, maybe I'll have to send them in.
