Swaro EL strap loop connector

Is there any way to make this not roatate? I hate that every hour or so I have to unclip my binos and untwist the strap, its getting old. Anything I a missing?

How are you carrying your bino's?

You can get inline swivels for cordage, might be able to retrofit something like that to the webbing, or just convert the strap to cordage. But I'd consider changing how you are packing your bino's, I've never had a single twist in my strap, so unsure how you are achieving that.

Carrying them in a marsupial gear bino harness, the twist are from simplying repeatedly putting the binos in and out of the case.
I wonder if shortening the strap might work. Was hoping someone made a non rotating adapter.

I’d retrofit some paracord and two decent sized saltwater ball bearing swivels to that rig. That would solve the problem.

Hummm........I have the same binos and the same bino harness and I never encounter that problem.

You have got me wondering how you get the twisting by just repeatedly removing and replacing the binos in the harness bag.

You’re not alone. This drives me crazy. I considered epoxying the loop connector and pin together so it was one unit that couldn’t twist.

Could you rig a couple of these on your straps clipped together that will swivel?

Alright, this is what I came up with. I use a key chain type coupler that swivels on my keys for my mail key. So I figured why not use these same couplers for my bino set up . I like how it turned out. The paracord was very difficult getting it strung through. I ended up having to use 10lb braided spider wire fishing line to wrap around the cord to make the diameter smaller so I could pull it through the coupler. Also I ran out of black cord so that is why I have a random green section. Sorry for those that are OCD

Resurrecting this thread, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who is OCD - except that I've got a question even before I try carrying my new (to me) ELs.

I use the Marsupial enclosed pouch with harness. Until now, I've kept two flat straps on my harness - as pictured below. One set (tan) to attach to my Kowas, and a black set to attach to my other binos (Zeiss before I traded to the Swaros). Then I would leave the other "end" of the flat straps attached to the binos, with the female end of the Kitty Klip ready to attach to the male end on the harness. This let me be lazy and not have to re-thread the straps when switching binos (but I admit it left an extra strap with male Kitty Klip hanging - and the two Kitty Klips are *slightly* different in size, which is why I have two...).

My questions:

• @mgebs311 - are you selling more versions of your setup?
• Is everyone using the EL Strap Loop Connector (like this https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1131086-REG/swarovski_44308_el_series_strap_loop.html) which is causing/connected to the problem?
• Did anyone try sticking with the original Swaro connection (not using the strap loop connector) and then making the adaptation at the other end? Meaning - stick with the connection that comes w/ the ELs, but then tying the cordage to something else?

That's a pretty sweet solution. I'm going to spend an hour on "the Google" searching for flat forest green electrical tape to match. Then I will dig deeper to learn what the name, and perhaps exact temperature, of the Swaro green is. I think if my wife knew the extent of my gear spend, she would still not be as shocked as the time spent/wasted on trivial matters. (And my Swaro green color comment was in jest when first typed. Now I'm not so sure....)

Can you just put a rubber o ring or cut a flat othrr soft o ring that would thicken make a tight connection so it would not swivel. I would hate to tape especially if adhesive starts melting or rubbing off.

I suppose you could do that. If you were more clever than me.

Good call. I'll try to find the appropriate piece of rubber or foam. A disc of 2mm fly tying/craft foam with a hole punched in the middle might do the trick.

I have been using rubber o rings for this for a couple of years. It works. See if I can attach a pic.

Sorry to resurrect this thread - again - but I procrastinated and never figured out how to attach my ELs. I recently sat in a stand and wished I had them, so now I'm figuring this out.

First, for those who were anxiously awaiting the color code for Swaro green, my request of Swaro CS was met with the following "I received word back today that we don't have a code to provide. We were just told that it is just green." So there goes my plans to match my green clothing, etc. with my binos.

@dog - any further detail on that o-ring, size or otherwise?

Any other suggestions?

Just take your swivel with you to the hardware store and look through their o ring bins until you find ones that work. You can get them in several thicknesses so get a few different ones to try until you find the ones that work for you.

Sorry to beat a dead horse. I have in my grubby hands a few o rings from the local hardware store. Unfortunately they only sell individual rings and they are in tiny baggies, so I couldn’t try before buying. Of the two sizes I purchased (#10 - 11/16" OD x 1/2" ID and #11 3/4" OD x 9/16" ID), both seem off. See pictures of the #10 on mine. Mine doesn't look too different from the one in your picture, but there's not enough friction on the back side to stop or even reduce the movement. Is there something different on the underside of yours in how you put the ring on that I've messed up?

The o rings come in different thicknesses so you just need to find the one that works
