So if I’m not mistaken, the new NLs are slightly larger/heavier? Anyone got both to compare? I’d love the improved fov but most the other improvements sound pretty small.

I primarily use my 8x EL’s for woods/whitetail hunting. Like the small light wt bino’s

NL PURE 32, 22.8 oz and 5.7 inches long.
EL 8x32, 21oz and 5.3 inches long

I wouldn't upgrade. I upgraded from 8.5 swaro's to some Pure 10's. Same usage as you.
Better glass and ergonomics but I would probably spend the 3k somewhere else. Eye's gettling
older and the 10s let me see a little farther for other endeavors. I can definitely tell a difference between my 15yr old 8.5's in viewing but not a huge difference.

Look at the specs on Leica Ultravid 8x32., smaller than Swaro..and they are fine glass too.

Quick question on those with the Leica 8x32 UV: how's the eye relief? I wear glasses, and I'm concernned that the stated ER on the UVs just isn't sufficient. Otherwise, they look like a great, compact 8x32.

I wear glasses and the 8x32 Ultravid has worked fine for me.....but I don’t wear them down on the tip of my nose either. I’ve paired my little Leicas with Swaro 10x42s for the past 16 years and reach for them for about half my use.

Thanks for this, that's really good info. Living in backwater USA, I don't have a chance to test these in person. The 8x32 UVs are tempting littlet things for portability.

FYI, B&H has a nice looking 10x32 EL FP (in Sand Brown) listed in their used section for $1500. Pretty good deal there if anyone is looking.

If you were glassing over some serious distance out west (think AZ for mule/coues deer) I'd absolutely recommend Swaro NLs. I have the 12x42s and find EVERYTHING when I put them on a tripod and hike to some high ground. They are amazing. The BEST glass I've ever owned. Out east in whitetail country I'm not sure the cost would be worth it, although the 8x32 NLs would still be the best you could own. -Luke
