I have these binos in hand at the moment. I have a set a gen 2 kilos as well. The 12’s in my opinion are legit. I have gotten a max range on a power pole at 1774 yards. 1886 on a barn. I confirmed ranges with the kilo 10k.
The display leaves much to be desired but it’s simple. The app is better and like the original El TA’s the ballistic solver varies by about a .1 mil.
There is still upgrades they could do but for hunting out west. These binos will be killer. If the solver worries you, this is what I do. I download and pay for geo ballistics, I use that app to true my BC and enter those speeds into my el range. I then tune the mv slightly to match my kestrel and it works like a charm.
Not specifically the 12s but I have zero issues with my 8x32 el TAs. They range to 1400, ballistic outputs have so far been accurate, easier to work with than Leica for changing profiles/settings…super fast output on solution and the glass is good enough to be my primary bino. I don’t hunt much in sub freezing but will see how they do in Montana this year.
For someone who mostly rifle hunts more open terrain i can see how the 12x would be a solid options.
