Any pointers on fishing the SW corner? Heading to West Yellowstone area from kalispell today and after 8 days of bear hunting with no bears to be seen, catching a fish would be real nice right about now lol. Worth fishing the park or will we have better luck outside, either in Montana or Wyoming? Plan is to leave through Jackson and head towards Cheyenne if there’s anything worthwhile that way. Any advice is appreciated! Honestly one of the best parts of our hunting trip has been the generosity of everyone we’ve talked to and the willingness to share local knowledge. Thanks everyone!

Ya tough timing but as mentioned above the Madison, Missouri or Beaverhead on your way would be good options. Also many lakes that can be good this time of year. Swing into one of the fly shops and talk with them when you get down there and see what they say and they might point you to a good hot spot. Good luck and enjoy the country and awesome weather we are having right now!

Thanks for all the advice! We fished along the Madison for a couple hours and both were able to catch a couple small cutthroats. Tried the Laramie on our way out Monday morning, it was super low and not looking great, headed down the road and took a detour to Curt Gowdy State Park and caught my first fish in Wyoming! Nice little 10 inch rainbow. We'll definitely be committing more time to fishing next year, runoff wasn't nearly what I was expecting, especially up north, really good looking water still.

Looks like I'm late to the party, but the guys above covered everything I would've recommended.

Sounds like you had some good fishing!
