I'm considering getting a pair of suspenders and wanted to get others advice about these. I wear suspenders everyday for work and they are attached using buttons on the inside of the pants. I'd be looking for suspenders that loop onto existing belt loops on a pant such as First Lite suspenders.

It would be nice to ditch the belt but I'm wondering whether I'd be constantly adjusting the suspenders. When you put your pack on, I suspect it would lower your pants which would have to be adjusted upward. Just the opposite when taking the pack off.

Are suspenders worth considering or are they more work than benefit?

For me suspenders are a must when packing anything heavy. I have an older style that just clip on to any pair of pants, but will be trying FL corrugate guide pants and suspenders that came with them this fall. I still wear a belt, but for me no belt is no problem. I'll ditch the belt if it starts dig into my hips with a heavy haul out, and I've never had issues with adjusting suspenders during the hike.

I really tried to like using suspenders but they just aren’t as comfortable to me. I’ve use both the FL and the Sitka suspenders and they stretched out over time and the buckles dug into me from contact with my lumbar pad and waist belt. I just use a thin 2” belt now and don’t have any worries.

I have two pair of FL Obsidian pants, the suspenders are just great for me. I also use them on my Sitka pants as well. Really don’t know they are there.

I use the Sitka suspenders and dont even notice the clip/hooks. I like em especially for when Im carrying a pack. Sure they may get stretched someday, but find me any item made with elastic like that that wont.

Suspenders all the way for me. I use a pair from outfitters supply and wont go hunt without them, I have had no issues with wearing a pack either. Many miles with a pack and suspenders. I run kuiu pants "the really light ones" and man I wish they would add suspenders to them. When I am on the mules I run overalls at all times and bring my hunt pants and suspenders with for when we drop camp. Never a belt for me, I hate having that pressure on my waist if I don't have to.

Any issues with Sitka clips coming off of the belt loops. That's a negative review I've often seen.

None. As a matter of fact, I sometimes have a hard time getting them off to change em to another pair or for washing. They don't hook to the belt loops tho, they hook to dedicated loops on the top of the pant.

I dont use them often but I like my FL suspenders if I'm not needing to carry something on a belt. My kid wears his set a lot. They were cheap enough it was worth trying them out not knowing if we'd like them.
