I was told that the TBAC Ultra 7 wouldn't work well with the Kimber thread adapter that Kimber sells to get to 5/8 24. TBAC stated that it doesn't have an adequate shoulder. They said they could install a face mount CB brake that is designed for sporter barrels. Cost is a couple hundred plus shipping to have them do it.

Anyone done this? And is anyone using a banish 30 on a Kimber with any luck? Seems the Banish would be the cheaper option and according to them would work with the adapter? TBAC worth the extra money?

I had TBAC install the face mount on my .243 Tikka T3X, because barrel diameter/shoulder is less than preferred, and got the Ultra 7 CB. No complaints at all. I had it done last summer, but it seems like it was less than $200.

Thanks for this I had been wondering if that was possible. Do you know what the thread pitch is on the muzzle of your tikka?

No. One doesn’t unscrew the face mount. You would need a cutting torch to get it off. Therefore, thread pitch on the “muzzle of the Tikka” is irrelevant or non-existent. The the thread pitch on the face mount, however, is whatever matches the Ultra 7 CB can.

I would like to get one to use on my Browning HC with the weird metric threads but also use it on my Bergara with the standard threads. Guessing it would be best to just get an adaptor for the Browning? If so, any suggestions on which adaptor?

Also does the Ultra 7 significantly reduce recoil as well?

I know for a fact that Thunderbeast picks up the phone and answers your questions when you have the time to call them.

I have learned via the school of hard knocks that my Thunderbeast seems to work very well for my bolt weapons, but not so well with ARs. The bolt carriers on my big bore gas guns got really dirty fast using my Thunderbeast. I also got what appeared to be some pressure signs if the form of pretty hefty scratches on the bases of the spent cases. I thought I was going to get one can and use it for all my sticks well I was wrong with a capital W.

I would appreciate some insight into what brands of cans would work well with 65 CM and 308 win AR platforms.

There are three elements of "shooting noise"
1. Sound of the Action (effectively the same as dry-firing for a bolt gun)
2. Sound of the expanding gas exiting the barrel (suppressors can significantly reduce this)
3. Sound of the bullet's sonic boom if supersonic (suppressor has no effect)

Number 2 is most of what you think of as the sound of the gunshot.

I’ll let you know when my banish 30 gets here.
