PEWScience is obviously a great 3rd party testing resource, but we also have a few other ideas that we are implementing

Currently, we use an HBK 2255 for metering. It's a bit more expensive than the Larson Davis many people use, but we feel like it's better at capturing data more accurately and consistently.

We recently purchased some high dB microphones to create better shooting videos to give guys an idea on tone and recoil along with LZpeak data.

My intention is to make a boat load of shooting videos on different host platforms, ammo, etc. to show raw data and give folks an idea of what it sounds like.

I'm not into the hype stuff and marketing fluff. I simply want to provide a transparent platform for our products to give guys an idea on what super sonics, magnums, and subsonics sound like on a variety of platforms. .300 Weatherby, 6.5 Creed, 6.5 PRC, 5.56, .308, etc. My hope is to give guys data AND be able to assess tone and back pressure from watching the videos.

What are your thoughts?

This is great, the more data the better, and comparison videos really help get a better idea of descriptions. I think most viewers would appreciate seeing the real time results on the meter during testing so they can associate a visual value with the sounds, and doing a comparison or using a popular Ti hunting can like an Ultra 7 or Nomad Ti XC as a baseline would help as well.

Needs to be tested on hunting length barrels. 16-20”. Shorter barrels are clearly a trend in the market. Agree that videos are great marketing but the table with comparative data is where most of us will seek. Need to have full disclaimers as I noticed the wind noise in the recently posted videos. I don’t understand why the video couldn’t take place in a tent with the end of the can just outside the door. That may create a more stable environment. Then again the wind on the fabric may be another issue. I am unsure of the impact on sound. Worth a try. Cheap 10x10 Walmart tent. If it sucks it can always be a fort for the kids.

As long as the testing always uses the same setup and has unsuppressed shots from the same rifle with the same ammo as a baseline, I am all in favor. I personally don’t need to watch the videos, but they are an important part of “showing your work.”
