Trying to swap the 5/8” threaded adapter for a 1/2” on a brand new Dead Air can. They have Thor himself tightening these things on. The stubby spanner wrenches aren’t doing squat.

Looking for a set of soft jaws or a way to adapter a suppressor into a vise safely.

Energetic armament has their Vox blocks. Just wanted to get feedback how they work or if there’s something better? I only have a small harbor freight bench vise.

Oil filter/strap wrench.

Does the wrench have a handle long enough to put the wrench in the vice?

Put the wrench in the vice, attach wrench to suppressor, then use two hands and some elbow grease to spin the can. Worst case you could put a filter/strap wrench or something on it for leverage.

Did you vise mount it or hand hold with the impact? I was tempted

Shouldnt be but I wonder if it’s got some sort of thread lock.
Didn’t even need to, just held it in my hand. I had the same issue and couldn’t break it with the supplied wrenches. Impacts driver took literally 2 seconds.

Not exactly sure what da’s thread adapters look like but you might try going to yardstore.com and search cannon plug pliers. They’re basically channel lock pliers with rubber pads on the jaws used for install/removal of aircraft wiring connections. I’ve been using the same pair for 20+ years. I keep a pair in my shooting bag for when my can needs persuasion. Every gun owner/tinkerer needs a pair of these!

I did not soak it yet.

It’s brand spanking new out of the box. Do they test fire all new cans?

Ah, I was making the assumption you had already shot it and were just changing out the HUB to use on a different rifle.

The cannon plug pliers linked above would be a good thing to try. Lock the spanner in the vise and then use the pliers to rotate the can while applying the counter-force to keep the can locked up on the spanner. You may be able to get the leverage you need by just doing that without the pliers.

Also, which can are you trying to get the HUB off of? The reason that I ask is that all of the Nomad and RDX lines have wrench flats on their HUBs as well as spanner cutouts along the OD. The point being that you could also use a socket of the appropriate size to remove it. Not sure what size it is, but I could measure my Nomad to tell you if wish.
