Looking for a 7.62mm suppressor for my first suppressor, to be used on 2 main bolt action rifles. Want it to be hearing safe, but also place a very high value on smallest diameter, shortest length and light weight. Needs to fit a .790 OD barrel. Been looking for an ultra 7 or raptor 8 (specifically bc it can be used without the reflex to achieve my weight goal) for a while with no luck. Im kind of sick of waiting, and looking for other options.
I see a handful of other suppressors out there that seem like they would fit the bill, but its freaking impossible to get any sort of read from a company, I have zero opportunity to try or listen to any specific cans whatsoever, so hoping folks who have used a lot more cans can give me some impressions. What suppressors are in the same category, ie
1) hearing safe
2) about 7” or less length (shorter the better…yes I know, see #1)
3) 1.5” ish OD (trying to not go up to 1.75”, I feel like I can see the difference thru my lower mag scopes)
4) 10oz or less
5) fits over a .790” barrel

Any feedback on dd enticer STI?
Any others that are widely considered to be in the “next tier” with the raptor8 and u7 or competitive with those?

I dont want a heavier, fatter can.
Not looking to save $ (not opposed to it, just not the priority), just wondering if there are other cans Id be happy with in the long run, ie NOT be still looking for the same footprint can immediately because its not what I really wanted?

Just get on a waiting list for a TBAC ultra 7. I have one, it’s my favorite out of the ones I own. I have no problems with my other silencers (except banish 30, that thing is a piece of shit) but I’d be totally happy if I just had 3 ultra 7s.

Do they even still make them? I’ve been waiting to see one literally for years. None of the dealers Ive tried to buy from have EVER been able to get one. Everywhere Ive asked again recently just rolled their eyes and told me to not bother. I could backorder a raptor but havent been willing to pay and wait who knows how long without even an estimate of wait time. I may have missed a short opportunity but never even been able to backorder a tbac. I think im done waiting.

What cartridges and barrel lengths are you shooting? That can be a limiting factor for some of the options. If you prefer longer barrels (ie 24”+), then there’s nothing to worry about as I don’t think anyone has restrictions at or beyond that length. Once you get to 22” and shorter, some manufacturers start adding restrictions sooner than others.

My bolt action suppressors are 1.7”+ in diameter. I understand the thought of not wanting the suppressor in the scope view, but I’ve not found these bigger diameter suppressors to be a problem or distraction when shooting. Even with low mounted scopes at 2.5x magnification, I’ve never wished I had a 1.5” diameter suppressor. That extra diameter makes a BIG difference for the volume of the suppressor, and I’m sure you know volume is an important factor of sound reduction.

Are you checking other online retailers, or asking tbac who they shipped stock to recently? I’ve had my local dealer do a transfer from mile high couple of times when I saw tbac and SilencerShop were aalways out of stock. Last one was last summer, a while after the AFT started doing quicker approvals. It was quick and painless doing a dealer to dealer transfer, kind of surprised me.

Something to keep in mind:

Short + narrow = not hearing safe.

If you want a 6" can you will need to go to around 1.675" to get one that is truly hearing safe. As for "seeing it in your lower mag scopes", a bit of a blur at the bottom edge of your scope isn't going to affect anything unless you let it. I am telling you this as I truly want you to be happy with your first purchase.

That being said, I would recommend the following:

Dead Air Nomad Ti XC
SilencerCo Omega DTM (budget option)
CGS Hyperion K
B&T SRBS 762Ti

My FFL in WA had an Ultra 7 on hand as of 6/9. Not sure where you’re at. Shoot me a PM if that might be an option.

Couple are 1x scopes, so its more than a blur…im used to the blur. It may not be a big deal but suffice to say I prefer to go narrower if possible.

Re size. There isnt any way to tell what is hearing safe and what isnt. Pew science doesnt include many of these cans, the manufacturers dont provide any info that can be compared, theres NOTHING objective on most of these cans. So I dont know what qualifies. I only know the u7 and raptor 8 are 6-7” cans with 1.5ish” diameter that folks recommend. If some of the cans recommended arent “hearing safe”, Id like to figure that out. Im just assuming that if those two can do it, others are as well.

Have you been checking local gun stores? I was only looking online for awhile then I was able to find them around my hometown in stores. Worked out even faster than when i order on Silencershop. Good luck finding an RR model but ive seen ultra 7s, 9s and dominus in the flesh

B&T SRBS 762Ti

Curious if you've noticed a 'ting' on this can? My buddy has the Inconel version and it sounds like a tuning fork on his AR, not 100% sure why

Seen ultra 7s recently at scheels and I think Capitol?

Hydrogen S is another I’ve not been around but find interesting and isn’t a 1.75” can.

Just an FYI, Capitol Armory has them in stock right now.
