Suppressor POI change, what happened?

Dead air nomad 3
Direct threaded onto barrel

When can was purchased 2 years ago, I was using hand loaded 220 grain ammo and there was no POI change. I was expected to have to make adjustments and I left the range without touching a thing.

Fast forward to today, I am about through with my hand loaded ammo and don’t want to hand load anymore. I wanted to go with an over the counter bullet and dial everything in to send off to Luepold for my CDS dial.

First couple of shots without the suppressor were about 4” high which made sense as new rounds are only 200 grain. Was about to shoot 4 rounds after I made the adjustments within about a 1” group.

Put the Nomad on and first shot was 4” low and 2” left. Thought maybe I pulled the shot. Shot 3 more within an inch.
Wasn’t sure why such a huge poi shift so I removed the nomad. Back to dead perfect. Put the nomad back on, back to a great shot group but 4” low and 2” left.

Why such a huge POI change? My buddy has the same gun same caliber using the same rounds I’m trying to switch too and went from no suppressor to suppressor (tbac 6) and shots didn’t move (or were within his skill level of staying around a 1” group).

Any help is appreciated.

Not sure of all the science behind the point-of-impact change between suppressed and unsuppresed. But for me and my various rifles, what is consistent is that there is always a POI change with all the rifles. Rarely shoot without the can these days. When switching the can between rifles, the POI is always very close when reattaching. Typically at the range, I generally have to fine tune my zero maybe a click up/down if being really precise which I feel has to do with weather or time of day and we process light differently throughout the day.

my poi always changes with and without suppression on same rifle. Some rifles it's a tad, some it's as much as a couple inches. I don't shoot my threaded rifles unsupressed so I could care or less. As long as it's grouping good with your can on, imo that's all that matters. Just make sure your can is tight as your groups will suck if it's not snugged down.
