Suppressor mount-QD or direct thread

Looking for the consensus opinion on best mount type as it pertains to accuracy. Looking into Hub 2.0 vs direct thread. The QD systems seem to cost more, which isn’t the end of the world especially after how much suppressors cost at this point. I see that a lot of bolt action guys run direct thread. I personally did see a Sandman with keymo on a custom bolt that doubled the group size. Still not a bad group but did have a negative overall effect.

This is what keeps me up at night. I just want the utmost in accuracy and ease of use switching between guns🤣

Gonna boil down to preference based on how you use it. Some guys buy one Can and use it on a bunch of guns, some put a Can on and never remove it. I prefer DT for less weight, less length, and fewer mating surfaces, but I can't own a Can for every rifle I have and these rifles are threaded in different patterns and I hate thread adapters so most likely I'll end up moving to the Area 419 hellfire system.

Definitely direct thread if accuracy is paramount. You shouldn’t see major POI shifts if using a quality QD system though

Do you lose any sound suppression with direct thread versus having a flash hider or brake QD mounting system?

Do the suppressor alignment issues mostly happen with QD mounts, or are direct thread alignment issues just as common??

I run griffins taper mounts on everything but rimfires and my mk12 with an ops collar. Makes life much easier if there's a mix of 1/2 and 5/8 threaded rifles. Probably all marketing to but I like the idea of having the brake as an "extra" blast baffle to protect the suppressor. Don't shoot any guns without suppressors anymore so cant speak to poi shift but they're more accurate than I am. I have a scythe ti, explorr 300, and nomad 30 coming all with griffin mounts so everything interchanges and also haven't had any backing off issues.

I prefer direct thread for hunting rifles and qd for gas guns. Seven suppressors and plenty of hosts and I've not seen any concerns with accuracy loss. The accuracy always stays the same or improves. I can't really speak to poi shift as I never shoot without a can, because that's for heathens.

Would you mind casting a vote in this thread/poll to add to the data pool of Scythe owners?

I use the QD option for my suppressors. I have the same ASR from Silencerco for all of my rifles. I can switch cans around as I need. I haven’t seen any issues with accuracy from doing this. If there’s an accuracy issue, it’s because I did something to make that happen.

take this from a guy that has only suppressor and 3 guns that are threaded...I see zero gain from a QD except for 15 seconds to remove and switch to another rifle.

Yeah it is a lot of options. I would really stick with one manufacturer if you go muzzle device mount, like a griffin taper mount/griffin can.

Have you gone to sites like capital armory(awesome company), Griifin, etc? They have a lot of info, both of those companies were very helpful to me.

My griifin can was bought via Capital and they shipped to my door.

I’ve used ASR for 9 or so years and have no complaints aside from weight. Really that is the only downside I see and the only thing I dislike about it.

It’s much more convenient when switching between rifles with no concerns about crossthreading the barrel threads (bolts hate to see me coming). There’s also little risk of it working itself loose while shooting, hiking, etc since the ASR lock ring holds it in place

If I were only using one or two rifles with the suppressor then direct thread would be fine

oddly enough that's where I bought it at and haven't been back to the site since. gonna have to check that out. Thanks for the reminder. Great experience so far with Capital in the whole process.

1) Consider how often you need to do the suppressor shuffle. ;) Mine lives on my deer rifle all season, shifting to other guns once the season is over, mostly happens at the range where quick switching is not necessary.
2) How many guns you need to buy mounts for, mounts are not cheap.
3) When I first was buying suppressors, it was possible to get locked out, that is Brand A mount could not work with Brand B suppressor, so you could never use Brand B on that particular gun. IDK if there are universal QD mounts, but seeing how at the time I didn't know how many guns or (different brands of) cans I was going to own, I stuck with DT.
4) I set up the threads so I cannot thread a 5.56 can on a 30 cal rifle.

I do a few wraps halfway down the barrel threading of plumbers teflon tape and that seems to do a good job at keeping the DT from coming loose and you can take the can off without tools. The sweet spot is to only tape bottom half the barrel threading. Doesn't matter if it gets somewhat shredded in the process.
