I've been hem hawing about getting a suppressor for several years now. last october i finally went for it and got a silencerco harvester. well, the sot called recently and said my stamp was in and i could come pick it up. it was a surprise and took me a moment to understand what he was saying. i drove down on my lunch break and finished all the paperwork and ogled her the rest of the night. with my tikka in dallas getting threaded, i had to put it on my kimber for its virgin voyage. after a little bit of target practice i've come to the conclusion that i won't be shooting unsuppressed so long as i have an option. the sound was greatly reduced on the 17" bbl 6.5cm but still noticeable without ear protection. the family was down range/ adjacent about 600 yards away and behind part of the mountain. they said they never even heard a shot. for me, the most noticeable thing is the concussive forces are negated. with my work, i use explosives regularly and shoot about 350+ rounds from a howitzer a season. all that has hurt the hearing and created almost an anticipation from even low recoiling rounds. the suppressor fixed all that with just a half inch of threads. so my disappointment lies with myself in not doing this sooner. the cost and wait were worth it....even though it should cost less and be no wait at all.
