Russell Wilson and Peyton Manning are both class acts. Sherman is the ultimate douchebag. I get being jacked up about making a play that puts your team in the Super Bowl. But plenty of other people have done that and haven't resorted to calling an opponent's player "sorry." I think the dude got lucky, he got beat on that play and if Capernick had led Crabtree more it would be a different story. And this isn't Sherman's first time doing this kind of stunt...this is par for the course with him. I get it the guy has a chip on his shoulder the size of Everest but it doesn't mean you need to be a classless winner. Truth is his antics and his attitude have made me hate the Seahawks...they talk and act like they've done something when they've never won a championship. I hope the Broncos knock some humility into them.
must be a saints fan...

I did not know a lot about Sherman and then I watched a segment the other night about where he was brought up and what his parents were like. Very well done and did shine a good light on his parents and how he was raised. Thought it made him seem like a humble good guy.

And then I saw him go off last night. And have read some since then about how he likes to verbally boast and pump himself up. Hopefully his papa gave him a earful about that rant after the fact.

I do not care how good you are, or whether it is in the heat of the moment or not- you should win with class, and lose with class. In fact how you act in the heat of things may reveal more about your charactor.

He went off like a staged WWE guy last night and called out another professional. I guess everything is turning into a MMA smack mouth type of atmosphere. I may be old school- but my Dad ( who wrestled in college at the Naval Academy) taught me better than that.

I wrestled growing up; all through college and then coached HS wrestling for 4 years in Iowa. I have known and been around lots of tough dudes all through my life- from State Champs; NCAA Champs and World and Olympic Champions. The good ones win and lose with class- they shake hands and walk off the mat properly. I have seen guys that boast and act like chumps also. Usually they are not the truly great ones.

And I do not care if they are good or not- when you act like you should not- you dishonor yourself and those that taught you. Just the way I see it.

I can understand a guy that gets emotional and things pop out because of it. But to self brag just isn't cool in my book. I think of Sherman like I think of deon. When he plays for your favorite team he is loved when he don't he is hated.
I like the fact that the seahawks are in the super bowl it would be cool if they win.
I have to root for Denver though. Been a manning fan ever since he was at Tennessee. It will be interesting to see how the teams match up and the game unfolds.

Oh I saw it, and loved every minute of it. I was talking about a video of Trig. Him and I watched the game together.
Haha I am glad you don't have a video from last night!!

I hear what you guys are saying but come on?! I mean imagine being 25 years old, getting paid huge sums of money to play a game? Your groomed being told your the best and at some level you gotta believe that to go out there and trade blows with those guys. This was a personal issue between those two guys. No one is perfect and I think it would be very difficult not to get cocky in a situation like that. The world takes all kinds and not everyone is going to be as reserved as Russle Wilson or Manning (that would be boring). Besides look how much fun the bantering is!! It's called entertainment. Haters gonna hate.

This wasn't the first time this season that Sherman made the exact same play, must be real lucky I guess. He plays underneath the receiver to get picks. He has the most interceptions in the league, so, he might know what he's doing. I don't care for his smack talking either, but he's the best corner in the NFL, and he's on my team.

Yeah Sherman is good but all that self promoting chest pounding makes me dislike him. He never stops talking but says his play speaks for itself, it would if he would just shut the hell up! Hope the Broncos can teach him some humility on the big stage.

Too bad the Broncos will humiliate the hawks ;). Just messing around but I really hope it isn't a blow out.

If anyone will humble Sherman it will be a Manning/Thomas combo. Sherman is just a thug but he isn't the only one in the NFL, his outburst probably shocked zero hawk fans as it isn't his first.

What is sad is that we just shrug that behavior off, he is a pro and should act like a pro.

Just think if companies acted that way or if their top representatives did.

There is no way Sherman is a classless thug. Didn't you see that bow tie he was wearing in the offical post game interview?! I do agree that the Broncos are going to be a force to be reckoned with. I hope both teams bring it!!

Gonna be a good game. I would like to see Manning win. I think he deserves it after the way he was treated by the colts.

He is one hell of a player. And his "Omaha" charity stuff is cool too.

His arrogant ignorant ways would have me looking for a different team to cheer for. There is nothing to be proud of when a guy like him represents a team.

I never said he wasn't good and I didn't say he was lucky. If you go back and watch the play, Crabtree was by him, had to slow down to make the catch, and Sherman made a wildly athletic play to get a hand on that ball. I feel if that ball was thrown a foot or two further he doesn't get a hand on it. The guy clearly knows what he's doing and I'd agree that he's probably the best shut down corner in the league. That is never in question. It's the way he carries himself and his attitude towards both himself and his opponents that makes me hate him. I've been around competitive sports for a long time and there's a lot of things I learned along the way. The gap between the best and the next best isn't that big and it doesn't take long for one to be humbled (especially in a league like the NFL). Your opponents put their heart, blood, sweat, and tears into the competition as well and it should be respected (I'm not saying you even have to like them -- respect is different than liking someone). I was taught to be gracious in winning. All of these things are what I respect in players. All you have to do is look on the other side of the ball and see Russell Wilson if you want to see what someone who embodies the consumate professional looks like. Richard Sherman has shown that he's none of these. He's done this to a point where I don't even care whose team he's on or who they're playing, I just want to see Richard Sherman lose and get humbled. And no, it's not just this outburst that has me feeling this way. It is kind of a shame because I appreciate everything else about the Seahawks. So...go Broncos!!!

I think it's mostly full of BS and contradictions. He didn't go over to Crabtree to offer him a handshake out of respect, he did it to gloat. Same reason he made a choking sign to Kaepernick. Also speaks volumes about his character that he accuses Crabtree of pass interference on the play. Again, the guy is a remarkable talent. No questioning that. What's at question (in my opinion, for whatever that's worth) is how he handles winning and how he treats other players. He has a history of showing no class and disrespecting others. I just prefer my winners humble and gracious I guess.

I can respect that point if view. I loved shutting guys like that up when I played sports. Guys like Wilson, Manning, or Brees will always be in a class of their own due to the way they carry themselves. I think Wilson has as much if not more confidence than Sherman and he's not afraid to talk about it, but he doesn't gloat and is humble. I still don't mind Sherman, mainly because he's on "my" team and he backs up what he says and everything about him is intense. He's got that attitude of "bring it on, let's go head to head!".
He loves to compete and he loves to go up against the best, I like that about him.

And I can appreciate that. I have a true respect for him as a player, I think he is right now probably the best shutdown corner in the league. I can appreciate his competitiveness -- the guy was drafted in the fifth round and overlooked multiple times by every team in the league. I love guys that carry that with them and let that motivate them. I love having guys in my locker room that care as much as he does. The issues I have, and it's the last time I'll say it, is about how he carries himself towards his opponents. I was taught to be a gracious winner. I was taught to not make things about me. I was taught not to upstage my teammates. I was taught to be humble and respect the competitiveness of my opponents (even if I couldn't stand them!). You don't kick a man, especially when he's down. These are all things that he's had a track record of not doing. I don't think he's a thug -- I think he's an educated, calculated, and competitive individual. Again, my problems are with the respect he's shown others and how he's carried himself as a winner.

I see he just came out and apologized for his behavior and spoke to some of these points. My guess is someone got in his ear and said just what I said -- when you do this you are upstaging the team and making it about you. When you do this, people are going to remember you as a villain and not a good guy. Time will tell if he changes his act. I'm looking forward to the Super Bowl match-up -- he's put himself under the microscope and I'm excited to see how it will play out on the biggest of stages.
