Hey guys,

Looking to put an ARCA rail system on my rifles so I can shoot from a tri-pod and affix my binos and spotter to it. My local places have Area 419, which seems good. However, I don't want to have to buy adapters to match their rail system. What is a good brand to go with? Or would it be worth paying for the adapter for the 419 stuff?

I like 419 and Hendersons rails. The Henderson seem a little thinner so they don’t stick out as far.

Any of the top brands should use RRS spec. So no adapters needed. Unless I’m not understanding what you mean.

Install rail on rifle. Clamp rail with Arca ball/leveling head of choice. Shoot.

Salmon river solutions has a couple. You can get the arca/pic mount to replace a front pic rail. They also have a couple options to mount back by your front action screw which is more at the balance point of the rifle.

I have a Manners LRH with a salmon river arca/pic up front and the integrated acra rail by the magwell. I only use the arca by the magwell for tripod mounting, it's much better since the rifle wants to naturally balance there.

The 419 rails use a tooth style system to help prevent moving. Others are smooth. I ran into a guy at the range the other day who had the 419 system. He said he loved it, but had to buy adapters for his ball heads and such to use them. He said you cannot use the 419 on a standard ARCA rail system, gotta use their stuff.

Salmon River is (to my understanding) the only manufacturer to make a rail that is profiled to the curvature of a stock, so i'd start there. I have one of their rails on my Kimber and it works very well. They also offer flat rails that attach via M-Lok if your AR is so equipped.

If you are talking about their arcalock rails, it looks like they work with any RRS spec Arca clamp.

“Rail is backwards compatible with standard Arca accessories, but will not be locking without our clamp”

Lots of misinformation out there. Included on here. Best to go straight to the manufacturer on some stuff.

I saw that. Which means it will fit in the rail system, but I cannot lock it in place. Or am I reading it wrong?

It means any regular Arca clamp it will just clamp. There is a chance the rail might slide in the clamp. Which is the reason RRS, 419, etc came up with fixes for clamps sliding on rails.

Under normal use I don’t believe it’s an issue. I clamp my rifle to the head on tripods, throw the tripod over my shoulder and haven’t had them slide.

Is that using an Area 419 rail with a standard mount?

One is the old 419. 2 cheapies off Amazon. Machined rail on the XLR chassis. MDT rail. Idk. I’ve got quite a few different ones.

A simple call to 419 would easily clear up your doubt if you want to use a 419 rail.
