My sons and I are going on a diy archery hunt off the haul road in Alaska. I will be needing a backpack to haul meat and head mostly. I have no clue what I should be looking for (they already have packs), so asking for suggestions for one for me please.

I'm assuming you are going to camp at the road and hike out each day to hunt? Highly recommend a Barney's Freighter Frame. They're the heavy weight carrying king.

Small day pack capable of hauling first load out, with kill kit, snack and water every time I leave the truck. Grab frame pack at truck for second load.

Last time I went I used my stone glacier solo 3300 because it’s what I have. I had my Barney’s frame in the truck but didn’t use it.

Over 100 lbs and the Barney’s shines. Under 100 lbs there are other great options. I really like the stone glacier terminus

Pretty much any of the hunting packs like Kuiu, Kifaru, Stone Glacier, EXO, or Mystery Ranch will work. Best thing is try and few and see what fits you best, that is what will make or break how well it hauls heavy loads for you. I have done this hunt twice with a Kuiu and others with me some of the others I mentioned. No matter what you choose, none are going to make hauling 80+ lbs across the tundra fun.

If you can handle it, the Barney's and trekking poles will be your best friends.
