Why would people mount skull capped antlers upside down? There's a guy in my neighborhood that has a caribou rack mounted upside down on the outside of his shed (he's from Canada, so I just figured he probably didn't know any better), and I was just looking at a lodge in northern Minnesota (happens to be right on the boarder of Canada), that has moose antlers mounted upside down right above their front door. What am I missing here?

Canadian eh. Probably drinking too much Labatts beer. That crap will have you doing weird shit, and you won't even know it.

My guess is they like the way it forms a downward arch, particularly if over a door.

Perhaps to mess with people, I never thought of it before, but now I want to just to mess with people.

There a guy in town that's got a whitetail rack mounted on a timber truss above his door of his house and it is upside down. It bothers me. lol Just figured he only put one screw in it and it swung around and flipped upside down. Not sure why you'd do it on purpose.

I have never seen one hung upside down. Could be that if they turned it right side up they would have to lower the skull for the antlers to clear the gable. Maybe that make it too low for a good solid mount.

Single hanging nail vs gravity.

I've got a picture of whitetail hunter from KS holding an elk shed on the wrong side of his head b/c whitetail antlers curve forward and he figured elk antlers did too. That moose rack is oriented correctly if one thought it was a caribou.

What's the alternative? I don't like wet bloody noses nuzzling my neck.

Shooot I'll be honest. It's a mess whenever I kill something. Probably looks like a Bill Dance blooper reel.
Well, you'd still be SOL if you got you one of these bucks, too:

So, either way ...

Sometimes I think its for the same reason I use to throw the most random stuff in holes before we filled them in. In a couple hundred years someone will dig it up and I hope they spend a lifetime trying to figure out why it was buried. I will get to look down and laugh that the reason was to do nothing more than mess with someone.
