Stuck on Quick Drop

Since I learned about it a few years ago and really practiced it this summer/fall, I highly prefer a bullet/velocity that fits closely to QD. I rarely use my dope chart or phone when I’m practicing or hunting

For guys that are shooting really fast (think 6UM, 6PRC), etc), do you guys just rely on your phone/dope chart taped to the stock?

I zero at 100. Depending on the hunting I’m doing, I might dial to MPBR or maybe the most likely distance I expect to see game. I’ll probably have a couple key holds or dope in mind as well so that I can lower the chances of needing to range. If I have time, always dial as accurately as possible to reduce stacking errors. Dope is in rangefinding binos for quick access.

Quick drop doesn’t line up with my 2 main shooters.. I typically set my scope for .6mil (2” high at 100 MPBR i grew up using prior to dials) and I just memorize the dope for 300, 400, 500, and 600 and interpolate between them. Doesn’t work great lol especially in the heat of the moment, but gets better with practice.

Tuning into this thread to maybe find a better solution. Thanks for starting it.

I think with more and more range finders with built in ballistics it’s more like look at the target, range it and see your solution, dial and shoot.

QD was pretty cool at class and my 223 fell right in line with it. Unfortunately, my other rifles dont work out that way. It's nice to have but im not going to neuter my gun to get there.

When I started dabbling around with PRS, I bought a set of Gen 2 Kilo 10ks and they've been one of the big pieces to the puzzle for me. If there's any question, I range and shoot.

My elk hunt this year worked differently. We spotted the elk and I was building a position to shoot off of a tree. My buddy ranged him at 640 and I grabbed my phone out of my bino harness where I had my drop chart as my lock screen. I saw my 600yd drop was 3.67 and my 650yd was 4.16. I quickly dialed to 4mil and dropped that dude.

You gotta be ready for any and all situations out there.
