Street Rods/Old Cars - anybody have one?

2005 SSR with LS2 V8. 390hp. My uncle owned it and then he died. Nobody in the family wanted it, so I took it. Ugly as sin, impractical roadster, but fun as hell off the line.

That is how I ended up with my YJ earlier this year. My uncle passed, and nobody wanted the Jeep he'd loved since '95. I was happy to give it a home, I already had an ARB up front, I'm adding another to the rear, re-gear, already did a belly up and super short SYE. Its going to be a low-COG build on leaves and 33s.

My friend's son was dating a girl in high school whose father bought her a brand new SSR for her 16th, she drove like a little old lady so it worked out as far as I knew. The dad daily drove a Diablo so perceptions were a tad out of whack in that household. Such a strange vehicle from GM, but I hear they are pretty fun.

My 86 Burb is running Dana 60/14BFF axles with ARBs and a Twin Stick NP205 and NV4500 5-speed on 34s. I haven’t found anywhere yet it won’t go locked in 4LO and granny gear, even as big/heavy as it is.

Is that a 71 Road Runner? My dad sold his when us kids were born and has regretted it ever since!
72 Satellite. Halfway done with a 6.4 HEMI and T56 swap on it at the moment.

Dad still has the 71 Charger R/T he bought when I was a kid. My brother has a 71 Charger SE with a 470 stroker and a 71 Challenger 383/4-speed.

I love 71-72 B-Bodies, but I’m the odd Plymouth guy in the family.

Mine is a project, nowhere near the status of what some of y'all are posting. But may I present Rocky, an 81' F-250.

It's a work in progress. When I got it, it had rust developing that I didn't have time to deal with so you're looking at a "rattlecan special", basically just me doing a "it looks good across the intersection" $50 Walmart paint job to stop the rust from developing further. So far I've torn out and rebuilt the entire interior and I'm pretty happy with how that turned out, except replacement dashboards (OEM ones all rotted out) are very difficult to find and the liner/cover I got warped in the sun. A future TODO.

Engine is a V-8 351m with an aftermarket Holly 4bl Street Warrior carb and a 4-speed (if you can find the gates - all the syncros are gone) Borg Warner T18 trans, 2x2. It came on 16.5" split rims which were still occasionally in use up until then, and those of you who know, know they're very dangerous. I sourced some cheap 16" replacement rims with the same bolt pattern and threw on new tires, after replacing all the studs (half were worn out, half were left-hand-thread, another oddity of the era). Suspension is all new.

I've tried to keep the rest of the truck as stock as I can. The one thing I changed is you'll notice there's no trim. This is the "styleside" era and it should have black plastic trim running down both sides, but nobody makes repro's of it and original trim is IMPOSSIBLE to find - it's literally the first thing to go the moment one of these hits the 'yards. I keep looking but will probably stay without it.

n.b. it's called Rocky because of Rocky and Bullwinkle, for those who remember that show. This truck has very "squirrely" steering, shifting, and clutch handling off the line (get it?). My other truck is a big white RAM 2500HD and you guessed it, that's Bullwinkle. The big dumb moose.

Thats how my '14 Power Wagon is. Ram 2500, 35s, lockers front and rear, flatbed, just all out goes anywhere.

I wish I'd stayed with ARB for my rear bumper. I figured I'd save some $$ and go with a Dobinsons instead...big mistake!
ARB makes pretty good bumpers, but I much prefer their lockers, great stuff. The YJ has a no name aluminum stubby bumper up front and a marketplace special steel swing out tire carrier in the back.
