Those One Picture a Day posts are neat but I think there should be picture post of random stuff found in the mountains. I’m not talking about random 40 year old bean cans either.

Since it came up...

These are all over the St. Joe in Idaho. I think I've found 7 of them in some glorious locations. 20200627_181538.jpg

If you found that marker, you probably weren't too far from this 1 either. I believe that area was a hot bed for elk camps back in the day before they closed off access to vehicles, also a lot of cowboys pushing cattle through there.
Could them cowboys been packing 40 S&Ws???Not sure when they closed off the area to vehicles but the 40 hasent been around that long. Thanks for posting, makes you want to see the other 6 at least.

It was a new scrape, the sap was probably less than a week old. The tree hadn’t had enough time to heal at all. I am thinking it was the last week. I do want to see the other 6. I wonder how many experience points I would get towards my mountain man badge for that.

No picture but I found an old mattress spring on top of a huge rock at about 9500 feet in the Bighorns this year. Long way from a road and in a nasty mess of huge boulders and deadfall.

I found this in central CO this year. Made from corrugated plastic like yard sign material. Any ideas?

I found this one last year in CO. I find it hilarious that the cave paintings dating back 30-40,000 years ago are pretty similar. You read the academic articles about them and they claim it represents fertility or some other abstract symbolism, when really, some dudes just like to draw naked ladies on stuff, apparently always have and always will. Maybe they haven’t evolved much since then? 😂8A5DA2E7-C1EC-4686-B0CF-584548D22469.jpeg
