I don’t see the need for these, as I’ve always been able to control the temp with the dampers on the front. My home wood stove does not have one; and the fire goes out on my titanium stove if I close both dampers. Am I missing something?

I use my damper every time. It lets out less heat and it helps my wood last longer. I used to only hear with wood and I swear by one. Just me though

it also helps to catch large embers for floating up the pipe when ultra hot (titanium glows at got temps) but then helps to incarnate them so that they dont float down on your tipi when the smoke hits the cold external temps. thus decreasing the chance of buying holes in your tipi.
