Huh I would have thought the draft going would draw the smoke backwards even with the door open in the reverse installation.

I believe the amount of draft has a lot to do with the heat of the fire, length of pipe and fit/seal of end caps.
I added a 4th bolt to the existing 3 (as seen in one of the pics) cause I noticed smoke coming out the front end plate where the seal was not tight. It originally called for 2 on top near pipe hole and one on bottom centered. I added the extra one to the bottom left and moved the original bottom one to the bottom right side totaling 4 now- no more leaking.

seems when I stoke it, is when it is about out. That creates a draft issue, and the smoke will come out any way when door open, and with pipe reversed towards door, it just added to it.

I will say when it was burning good, and I opened door, I never noticed excess smoke coming out.
If you want to know, burn at night, bring flash light and go thru your routine and you will see every bit of smoke in the flash light ray.

I believe the baffle helps keep heat in longer and best helps prevents the embers from going thru the pipe.
But I believe I will begin using only the spark arrestor and watch for holes in my tent. If they start to appear, I will go back to the baffle and regulate my fire more efficiently and make sure to not stoke it when it is barely lit, and rather treat it as a new fire with smaller kindling.

I don't have a stove yet, but I know a little about heat, smoke, and flow paths from work. The smoke is going to go to the most easily accessed area of low pressure... out the front door.

Have you tried opening the front vent and damper all the way for a couple of minutes in order to give it some extra oxygen and get the heat and draft pumped up a bit. Then open the door slowly to try and not disrupt the draft? I know the fire is almost out, but you might be surprised what a little extra oxygen will do to it.
