I have my rain gear in a stuff sack currently. Just wondering what is recommended for long-term storage? Most of my other hunting clothes are folded and in sealed plastic bins so I can stow them in the attic or under the bed. I was throwing the rain gear stuff sack in there and it made me wonder.

For most gear (tents/tarps/sleeping bags/sleeping pads) leaving them uncompressed is the way to go. As long as the stuff sack isn't fully compressed I would think it's fine. I have some gear just in loose stuff sacks; and other gear like my sleeping bag/pad just lying on the floor. My tipi I have just lightly folded back/forth on top of itself in a big rubbermaid container.

my experience, one time.

one set of packable rain gear left in the carry bag over summer.

ruined-totally. the seam tape stuck like glue to every part of it.

Oh, dang that’s something I hadn’t thought of. My attic gets about 110 in the summer so I need rethink anything that has plastic involved going up there.

If you spent a lot of money on it, it's best to hang puffy coats/pants and rain gear. Pants and such can be folded and placed in drawers or bins. Anything with taped seams should be stored inside where it won't get too hot or cold. Puffys can lose loft if compressed for too long. I'd never store my rain gear in the garage or attic. Shiz is too expensive to let it get ruined by the heat.

All of my clothing and equipment are stored in plastic bins in my basement. Clothes and rain gear are folded and stored. Waders are folded and placed in plastic trash bags (I read it helps preserve them long-term). Tent has been in it's carry case since last used in 2005. Sleeping bag the same (I probably need to have a look at those two).

Same as the above. All the good stuff is folded and in Rubbermaid totes in my hunting room in the basement. Sleeping sack is uncompressed in the mesh storage bag in a tote. This stuff is way to expensive to ruin in storage.
