Stories of hunting partners that quit

My BIL is one I can never hunt with again. Wants me to pick him up and then tells me he has to leave early once we’re there. No stamina to walk the woods. Him and his kid did one deer drive for me and quit. Has to hunt in a box blind with heat.

I hunt by myself for the most part. My wife and kid come occasionally. Unfortunately if I get a runner they go over the edge and it’s too steep to drag out by myself and no easy access to the bottom. I get creative when it happens.

At least he's not anti hunting

We’ve had a couple guys that were too whiney assed. They didnt like getting picked on and stopped coming to camp. That’s just more room for the rest of us.

For years 3-4 of us have hunted together and over the years one guy moved states another got Parkinson's so it was down to two of as of 2 years ago. We had always met at my house then headed out on a Saturday to set up the wall tent, cut wood, etc. It was always a group effort of grocery shopping, making meals, planning and so on. Over the years one in our group never really pulled his weight but I never let it get to me that much. He was always too busy to help get groceries, never wanted to drive his own pickup, or bring extra supplies. Anyhow, he was the one left to hunt with me. Two years ago he shows up Sunday night after I got camp ready, shoots a buck Monday morning and that evening when I get back to camp he tells me he's taking off the next morning since he killed his buck. I was pissed but said, "whatever you gotta do." That was the last time I spoke to him.

i will repeat what i ve seen as a fishing guide and or hunting guide. the remote areas reached by planes or floatplanes will reach a level of inconfort compared to civilisation that some can handle easily and others cannot at all and you can explain or even think about it up to the time you are in ...

i witnessed it and there is nothing you can do to reason someone that can take it anymore when stuck in the wilderness and doesnt want to be there.

it is a shame as no one enjoy that situation but again nothing can prepare you to be confortable in a moose camp or not ... up to the time you are in.

after few discussions i discovered to very often it is when the plane is leaving the place that it is the harder because up to that time it is not that much a problem.

cannot wait again this year the floatplane to leave the civilisation.
