STOP!!!!

Fixed to how I think of it.

Even dealing with someone who is well known, and has good intentions, stuff can happen, aside from an account being hacked.
Buying through classifieds has some risk, in my mind. Either be prepared for it, or don't purchase.

I haven't been ripped off, have had items not exactly as described, pick my battles.
I can rip you off. I'm wanting to look into becoming a politician so no better plus to learn to screw folks over then Rokslide. Just trying to be like my Daddy, Daddy Crenshaw.

I just factor in the fees with my sale price.
Guy wants to dicker, I then break down the fee and shipping and add that to the price.
I'm not out to get rich. But the ones that want you to pay them to buy your item irritates the S&%t out of me.
“What is your lowest price?”
LOL.

Exactly how I think of it. Have had 1 bad transaction against 100 or so. Haven’t thought of it since until this thread.

Make it 100 posts for classifieds access, maybe the 2FA also.

Usually when it's a "I got scammed thread" FNG buys something expensive from other FNG with no attempt to vet them. That's pretty stupid.

I think the hacked accounts are less frequent, but should also be fairly obvious. Guy has 500 posts but hasn't been on in five years and he suddenly has a high demand item for a great price. Probably not...

How many of the, "wkr, hasn't logged in in years" type scammers do a "forget my password" type reset before logging in to scam? Or are they using the original password they stole from a list?

I didn’t see anything new under Forum Rules.

Do you have a link to the update? Thanks.
Rule has been in there since everyone clicked the box saying they've read and understand the rules. https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/classified-rules.136941/

As a buyer, don't use PayPal F&F.

As a seller, don't use PayPal G&S.

So, basically, don't use a company that hates you for hunting and having guns.

There are other ways to pay that give better protection to both.

In general, I just don't find the classifieds worth the trouble and am fine paying extra to not have the extra trouble. This includes companies like Optics Planet that are not a scam, but may take six months to ship an "in stock" item.

I see the buyer having to pay the fees exactly like a business charging customers their credit card fees, not going to do it. Will pay by check or cash or go elsewhere.

Paying with Venmo or Paypal is a HUGE risk.

My wife uses it for her equine business and has had the same client for a few years with about 5k worth of payments over the course of three years. Paypal corporate decided that all transactions to this client were fraud randomly about 6 months ago. From there the real pain started. The 5k was then pulled from our Chase checking account without any notification and held "while the transactions were being reviewed". Mind you this was for equine bodywork, not even close to fraud or guns or anything. Even with the client as well as my wife each calling Paypal and telling them it was not fraud, Paypal held the money for 3 months until we got Chase bank involved.

Long story short Paypal/Venmo can at any time pull as much money as your account has had in transactions at any time if they decide to. Steer very very clear of them.

I've heard of that happening before. One of the things that kinda steered me clear of using them.

I gotta ask though. Wouldnt it make sense to have an bank account setup just for that?

Exactly. I have a separate bank account for PayPal and Venmo. When I want something, I do a transfer from my main bank account into that one and then use the service. If I get paid that way, I have the option to let it sit or move it to my main account. I never keep more than a couple hundred dollars in that 2nd account.
