So I currently have been using the stone glacier skyline bino harness for the past 4 seasons. It has served me well but I have beat the living piss out of it and its kinda falling apart in a few places now. I just recently purchased my first alpha glass (12x42 NL pure) so am feeling like they deserve a new home and find myself in the market for a new harness. Im torn between these two.

There are a few reasons im not just getting a new SG. First is that occasionally when I would bend over and not have the lid closed my binos would fall out. I use a tether on them so they wouldn't hit the ground but still annoying. Does this happen with the marsupial?

The second is that my current range finder and side pocket I use are not compatible with the new SG. Seems minor but also seems dumb to have to get new pockets when I already have some that are completely fine and I like.

The third reason seem like the marsupial offers more padded protection. One of the things I really liked about the SG was how minimal it is but after spending so much on glass now it's got me thinking that more protection might be worth the extra bulk. People who have messed with both is the padding/glass protection that much more substantial in the Marsupial and is this even something I should be worried about?

My other question is about using in weather. I hadn't really considered this but have used my SG in the rain a lot of times and since its waterproof not put any thought into it. I see that marsupial offers a waterproof cover which has me wondering how these hold up in the rain? If you don't have the cover do they just soak up water and get heavy and take forever to dry?

Any insights into these would be helpful. I don't live in an area that I can go check them out in person anywhere unfortunately.

I used the SG harness you had and even after one year showed wear and really wanted to try Marsupial.

I love everything SG but marsupial bino harness are better because of the padding and harness (my old SG harness would make my neck hurt).

And yes -if needed - use the waterproof marsupial cover.

You will not be disappointed one bite from the Marsupual bino harness

Good luck.

Probably can’t go wrong with either. I just bought a sentinel after using a marsupial forever. It’s not as pretty as it once was, but it’s holding up great. Here’s my opinions:

Just close your lid when you aren’t using your binos, they ain’t cheap! My UHDs would I fall out if I did that. I won’t do that with the pures especially not tethered.

You’re gonna have to buy the accessories either way. They gotta make you spend money somehow.

my UHDs look used after being used in my marsupial. I plan to take better care of my pures in the sentinel. taking my pures in/out of marsupial also PITA with eye covers on. They suck to close one handed. Take them off I think no issues.

Get the rain cover if you go marsupial. Getting it wet sucks but not bad enough I have ordered one, yet.

Sentinel harness is more comfortable for the little bit I have used it. feels lighter and more streamlined. I’m going to try it out here soon. I also don’t like I can’t use my adapter to carry a sidearm efficiently as I can with my marsupial due to bottom straps. Sweated pretty good with that marsupial too, hope that’s less of an issue. Can’t go wrong with either or but I’m not selling my marsupial quite yet..
