I was wondering if there was an older approach bag if anyone may have handled the new approach. Looks like it might be a perfect day pack to put on my x curve frame and I could use it instead of my 5900 in bivy mode.

I picked up the Solo last fall but the new Approach 2800 seems like exactly what I am after, I need a video review 🤔

Was glad to see that they incorporated two interior pockets on the 2800 bag. Seems like a great way to not need the swing outs.

There is a bunch of other Features if you look close.
Tripod mount on the front, or on the side there is a little open pocket for a tripid walking sticks.
Straps that go all the way across the front. etc.

It’s on my list to buy as well. For all of the mentioned new features.

Such a tease, we want pictures!!!
Alright here are some quick pics. I might make a little review thread as well.
This thing appears to be the same size as the 1800 at first glance, but there is soooo much more room and accessories while not having a bigger footprint. I could easily do a overnighter with this bag and bring everything I would want. Tent, bag, pad, food, stove, cloths etc.
So this bag opens up in a full horse shoe, which is something I wanted the 1800 to do so badly.
Also you don’t have to unbuckle the bag to open the zipper all the way like the 1800.
You have many ways to attach different accessories to the outside of the bag, in one of the pictures you will see I have a Turkey blind and a tripod attached to the bag. I could also use the front straps to attach sheds or whatever else.

Once you open it up, you have a nice deep cavity, and the best part you have two really nice sized zipper pockets on the lid.
You can put a lot in them too. I have my rain gear and Wipeys, and water filtration all in one pocket.
For me this is 100% the perfect day pack, they really nailed it on this one guys. I went back and forth on if I wanted to sell my 1800 for the 2800, also considering I have the 40/56. I have zero buyers remorse, it’s totally worth it.
Good work @Kurt

I'm bummed. Just bought a solo and this 2800 is what I really wanted.

Love to hear more thoughts on it. Especially compared to the 40/56.
Do you think you'll even use that 40/56?

I have a sky 7900 and feel I can use that in bivvy mode if I need more room that what the 2800 would give me.

2800 does seem good for day hunts.

Does it feel like it might be a bit small for cold weather hunts when you're bringing puffy pant/jacket, rain pant/jacket, spotter, tripod and stove?

The Solo packs down well but the Approach is laid out really well for my liking. I’m a fan of everything in it’s place and having an exterior spotter pocket and two options to carry a tripod really nailed it for me. I can carry plenty of gear and clothes for a day hunt although I don’t know if it would be big enough for my overnighters so I am keeping the Solo bag for those occasions. I contacted SG and purchased extra buckles to extend my strap options and now I feel like I have an ideal day pack.

I have a feeling that solo is going to get refreshed b/c it is lacking simple features that are found on the approach and the 5900.

Yeah plenty of room for cold weather hunts etc. I will put it to you this way, half of my hunts and scouts I do with my 3 almost four year old. I am also the type of person that over pack to be safe than sorry. So with all my stuff and all my sons stuff, with a water blatter. I can still fit all every day hunting items, along with a fold-out turkey blind, a tripod, food, numerous turkey calls, rain gear, puffy, etc. All with room to spare. If i throw a spotter into the mix it would probably take away to room to spare part.
I will only be using my 40/56 bag for multi day hunts.

Tell me about these extra buckles, how and what are you doing with them?

The female "repair" buckles, you moved them to just right of the spotter pocket. I did also but I got another set so I could use them near the small tripod pocket. I think it gives a ton of flexibilty to how you run your straps based on your load. For me it was a small thing that made a big difference, I think they should include them.

Never mind I know what your saying, I didnt move them thats how mine came. Good idea, I will pull some off my 40/56 for the time being! Definitely gives you more options!
