Been thinking about buying one of these packs, heard some people say the only thing they don't really like about it is stuff falls out of the internal pockets sometimes. Anyone tried aqua sealing some velcro on the pockets or even found a way to put a zipper on them?

Any other diy modifications done to these packs is def something I'd like to hear about.

Those aren't really in a location in the pack that is useful to me, so I can't say I've ever used them in the field. Early experimentation showed that they were best used for hats, gloves, and other soft items that won't fall out. In practical use, those things are either in the lid or a drysack... Best mod for holding small, heavy items inside the pack was the little zippered "camp bag" he sells. Keeps things in the same position in the pack all the time, and I can get to it from either the top or the rear zip access.

Adding sidelock buckles to make the lid into a quick detach and making some over the top accessory straps are the only other mods I've currently done to my 7400. A sewn on side slip pocket is currently under consideration, but I haven't had time to mock one up yet.

That side slip pocket sounds interesting. I usually dislike hanging my GPS on my shoulder straps and doesn't fit very well into hip pouches. This slide slip pocket something that this would work for and easily accessible while wearing the pack?

No. I'm thinking spotting scope/tent size. Built one on a previous pack I had and liked it. Nothing original, the Timberline and other packs have similar side pockets. What I like about that type of pocket is that when I'm not using it, it disappears under the compression straps and isn't flopping around on the outside like an accessory long pocket. Not sure if it's worth doing on this pack or not, but if I get the time this winter I may fab one up to try.

If you don't like to have your GPS on the shoulder straps, one of the many many GPS specific holster designs will fit on the waist belt and do work well. My usual choice is just a lanyard if I'm using it to navigate and in my pack when I'm not.

When I carry my garmin on my blue widow I put the carabiner of GPS on lower portion of shoulder strap then it slides down to where the strap meet the bag and is on my hip almost behind me. Love how it works

Getting my sky 5100 next week. Thats why I posted previous. Eberlestock pack gonna go. Actually found it on ebay new with buy it now at $450!!! Comes with a rifle carrier and some other bag/sack he called it. Got a steal!

The velro might be a a good option. I've also thought about sewing elastic along the top of the pocket to help hold it closed, but haven't got around to doing it yet. I guess I've got used to not using the pockets, and just kind of forgot about it being an issue.

All things considered though, the SG Sky is an awesome pack and I can not say enough good things about it.

Zpacks sells Velcro tape strips that you can apply without sewing on the SG inside pockets. I put them on one of my 7400 inside pockets and it has held up fine.
