This might end up being a complete disaster but I couldn’t care less. I have an extra stock and can always put it in XLR chassis. We cut almost 4” off the forearm. The main reason for this was to stiffen it up. The original length was super flimsy and would make contact with the barrel with minimal downward pressure. Cutting the stock (similar to the trekker from Grayboe) was strictly to see how much weight we could drop. All together it took off 6oz. The stock is way stiffer up front, the back half feels the same. Haven’t got to shoot it yet but will in the next few weeks hopefully. Fire away with the “what the hell were you thinking” comments. Haven’t sealed them up yet. I don’t have any straight on pics but can take more tomorrow.

Anyone know if those Ultralight stocks will fit the 110 LW Storm rifle?

As far as what were you thinking? I guess you were thinking the same thing I was. My wife cant hold the rifle out that far anyway so I was thinking of doing the same thing to her rifle. The cut in the butt I was nervous about but it looks like it will be fine.

Personally, I think that your XLR chassis idea is great.....;)
With that being said you could try throwing a carbon rod in the forend and bedding it in. That will stiffen it up a little more but will add some weight back.

I have two magnesium elements. If I buy a third my wife might make me move out and live in all my back country hunting gear. Seriously though I love the chassis. Been eyeing the magnesium atom. Sweet little backcountry package.

when my xlr shows up (pretty soon) i will try to put our LW storm in the ultralite stock if you are curious... i'm sort of curious too. we have an UL and a LW storm both in 6.5 gender bender... i think the LW storm will be sold, because it was my wife's rifle, but everything i'm doing to the ultralite is for her and my daughter, so i think my rifle will be their rifle, and i'm going to get a seekins PH2 in .308 for my rifle hunting needs.

if the UL stock fits on the LW storm, i may also hack that stock up just to see... my UL stock is already pretty beat up looking, so i don't mind making it more ugly

That would be great. I got a LW Storm for my wife but she could really use the adjustable comb so if the UL stock fit I may try to find one.

i will let you know for sure, that is a pretty useful feature on those stocks, as flimsy as they are, they are pretty functional

Little update. We shot the gun a good amount this last weekend and it is hammering. The hack job didn’t effect anything accuracy wise.

3 shots aiming at the moss spot to the left at 535yds. We didn’t want to hold for wind so we could see on the rocks how tight the group was. The reticle put the group under 1/2moa. Gun is sitting at 7lbs 9oz with the nightforce nxs 2.5-10x42, talleys and a bubble level. So far pretty happy with everything.

I like it.

Looks like you removed the cap at the bottom of the grip. Was there any material in the grip that you hogged out or was it hollow? I'd also love to see a straight on view of the forend.

Any update on if the UL and LW Storm stocks are interchangeable?

The grip was already hollow. We did try to remove a little extra but it probably wasn’t worth the time or effort.

There are little plastic dividers in the forearm of the stock and we decided to stop right at one of those to try to keep sticks and debris from getting underneath the barrel.

It works, seems like the fit is as good as the factory stock
