I have a pair of night hunter 10x50 binos that I bought in 2002 that I would like to have serviced and the rubber amour replaced. I have had this done once before since new which involved sending to the Australian Steiner distributor who then sent it to Germany to have the work done.
I contacted them again and this time they say Steiner would prefer to do an 'upgrade' where I send them my binos and pay AU$125 and they send me a pair of nighthunter 8x56, which is the closest equivalent in their current line up. They said that it could be a long time and quite costly to get them refurbished and I'm still waiting for a reply when I asked how much.
The Steiner USA site only seems to deal with USA customers but I was wondering if they service binos or if it is all done in Germany?
Overall, if they are prohibitively expensive to refurbish and they want to offer an 8x bino for a 10x bino then it would be a little disappointing.
