I always wondered how much weight you lost from fluting, chambering and threading.

I wonder how much barrel length would need to be cut off the same exact barrel to get the same difference.

Just for another reference. I sent a 24" douglas #5 contour to Kampfeld for fluting and just received it today. I asked for a spiral flute and to remove as much weight as he could. When I sent it off it weighed 3 lbs 4.9 oz. Today it weighs 2 lbs 12.3 ozs. My barrel lost 8.6 ozs.20230308_192401.jpg16783288644637390147051520658344.jpg

Interested to hear more reviews on the ACE barrels. Looks like they use tighter bore dimensions though for .224 and 6 mm which is kind of unfortunate.

Obviously still cheaper than most of the well known carbon barrels, but has there been a breakdown showing comparisons of cost and weight comparisons done for people to see?

Would be interesting to see maybe a proof, bartlien, maybe an x caliber in carbon. Then same contour in ace, mc Gowan, benchmark in steel and see where the benefits lie.

Kind of a high, med ,low carbon and then steel comparison

@Ryan Avery I just looked up Ace barrels contours and didn't see a #5 listed. What is the muzzle diameter of this barrel?
I heard it wrong its a #3 Ace barrel.

“Ace Barrels #1 Sporter is the same as: Bartlein 2B, Hart #3, Benchmark #3, and Krieger #3”

“Ace Barrels #3 Sporter is the same as: Bartlein 3B, Hart #5, Benchmark #5, and Krieger #5”

They haven’t made any 6mm barrels yet so that is subject to change. We are getting ready to start shooting a bunch of Ace barrels. So we should have feedback soon

Do you happen to know what that would be at 22"? I wish UM or Ace offered a weight calculator. Maybe they do and I'm just dumb.
