Staying warm when glassing

Once he left they ruined it and just made it a standard puffy company.
Fixed it for ya.

Thankfully another company stepped up to take on this project. It’s ridiculously warm. Same as the white prototypes that were used in the Winter S2H classes, just a different color outer fabric. I don’t think I’ll be able to use it for early season sheep.. it’s just too much. It’s definitely warmer than my Rab Neutrino. Total weight for this size Medium is 21 oz. Over half of that weight is just 850 down.

It’s happiness is what it is.

Wool lined leather work gloves have been a life saver for me in cold temps. Blow any other glove I’ve tried out of the water.

Don’t know if we can say yet. A small & nimble one that cares about getting products right.
If Nunatak, would make me even more excited. But I think they would be too small to make any volume. Someone like feathered friends would be more likely to volume wise 🤔

I’m looking forward to this. Hoping I can get another season out of my Chamberlain to get me to when this thing releases.

As an aside, I also noticed SG released an updated Grumman pant and jacket. Heavier now but with same fill and oz of down of the previous. Supposedly enhanced durability is the trade off for the increased weight but I’m always skeptical - durability is marginal nonetheless because it’s a puffy, and I wonder the updated versions are designed with easier manufacturing/higher margins in mind more than anything.

Jan (Nunatak) makes some great products, but this is a bit more refined than the ultra minimal designs that he offers.

Yea those are gonna be badass! Will they be 850 goose down or Muscovy down?

Adds a failure point and potential drafts + weight, so not really applicable to the lightest weight/warmest parka available.
My montbell in medium weighs 13.7oz with the hood. Has buttons on each end of the zipper to reinforce the connection. I like being able to remove the hood when wearing it under my rain shell.

I really like the neck zip and kangaroo pocket on that parka. Never saw a reason for a full zip on a down parka.

If you have a link to the gloves you like I would be interested. Is it better than wearing wool gloves inside regular leather gloves?

I just found this on the Stone Glacier website, happened to be looking for something else.

12.5 oz of down, 850+ fp, it is going to be warm. I am not sure what they mean by "Innovative side and front zip entry system for getting warm quick" It is a half zip in the front. Perhaps they have zips on the sides as well. Not sure, their website does not say. And they don't have a video on it, so.....who knows.

Ah ok. That’s definitely in a different class of insulation then. You would never fit a shell over the top of this one. It’s basically a belay jacket, one which you would put on Over the top of a shell.
