I'm am trying to get out of the neighborhood life again but I work from home and I am finding it very difficult to find a place with acreage nice home and high speed internet.
I hear and see issues with others using hotspot and I want to open up options potentially with starlink. Anyone here with first hand experience?

Friends have it and love it. The wait time is brutal. Pay more per month and get the rv service and they will send it out immediately and the hardware is exactly the same. We were going to do it also but t mobile wifi became available in our area. Compared to our dsl 2Mbps the t mobile is crazy fast with even having a week signal.

Got Starlink spring 2022 after being on waitlist for nearly a year. I've been very pleased with it. My pevious Internet service (wireless broadband) struggled to deliver 5 Mbps download speed. Starlink routinely tests at 50+ Mbps.

We’ve had it for a month or so. Several of my neighbors do to. I guess there’s a wait somewhere but not here. From order to delivery was a week.

We are at 58.4 N Latitude. We see download speeds to 160mbps. Up is not as good, 25mbps. There is low latency that somewhat effects gamers they tell me. no issue otherwise. We can stream multiple devices. Our alternative is Hughes Net which is terrible or a slipshod arrangement a local is doing bouncing around microwave getting us 5mbps.

There lots of high speed options these days using point to multi point radio technology. Look into that in your target area.

I have to move 50 Gb files around for work.
Went from 256k-dialup to DSL, to cellular, to Starlink in two years of unprecedented times.

Skipped the local microwave and older satellite alternatives which were both slower and much more expensive than DSL. There is no cable here.

Cellular hotspot w/unlimited data was way faster than DSL but still painfully slow (1 down/0.1 up). Kept the cell phone as backup. Not really needed unless I'm traveling for work.

Starlink install was stupid easy. Monthly cost is tolerable compared to the value of previous services. @Mighty Mouse 's stats are representative. The satellite linkup is much slower than wifi so don't bother with hardwire between computer and router. Tech support doesn't have a phone number, but haven't needed it (have you rebooted?) Wait after deposit was painful (there's a map). Deposit is refundable though: sign up now, then shop around.

We use it when we boondock and work remote. My gf parents live in a spot that didnt have a wait but there are also hacks that you can do to get your equipment faster. Overall happy with the experience so far. Its fast enough to do zoom and teams video meetings.

I have it and really like it (as an ordinary computer user / non-techie). As said above, it isn’t cheap, but the value is there.

I ordered it about a year ago expecting a long wait, but received it much quicker than expected. Setup is stupid easy.

I use it to run Wifi security cameras and thermostat, internet, video streaming, and recently gaming while my son is here. There has been a couple times it was glitchy, but it didn’t last long. We have had two snow storms that blocked the antenna for a while. It melted the snow away as designed. (I did receive an email offer for a new super duty “dish”, but for the cost decided I don’t need it where I’m at.)

It is a good thing.

We are using it after being stuck with super expensive and slow Viasat for several years.

It's excellent, wait time was rough, but I think it has improved, as we signed up right after early beta. I use it for cloud based work on 3d models and CAD, and it works solid, ping is under 60-80 usually, with speeds of 50-80 mbps not uncommon, although it is typically lower than that.

Took us a little over week to get delivered to WY, but there was no indication of that when we ordered. Excellent speed, easy and fun to set up.

My wife works from home. I do most days, sometimes in office… We just transferred to fiber optic as it came by our place for “rural development”. Starlink kicked our local broadband, via sat, Hughes net etc. we were averaging 3-4 mbps. Starlink and fiber (depending on fiber plan) we’re right around 25-40 while we were both working at home. We are in rural central MT.

Bumping this back up since I just received my gift from Elon today. Wait time about two weeks after ordering. Suck part is I just paid August 15 bill for Viasat and they won't prorate me for the rest of my 24 day cycle. Whatever Viasat was all we had in our area when we moved here but it's not good and at $175/month is crazy. I have a few buddies around me with Starlink here and all good reviews so far.

Middle of nowhere Arizona and it’s been rock solid for 6 months now. Even on that 35 day straight stretch of 110 degree days. No issues.

I’ve had starlink here in the rural UP for about a year. No complaints at all. Much better than previous satellite/ hot spot setups I’ve used.

Absolutely satisfied with our Starlink service. We use a lot of service in our house with no issues and runs smooth. Only complaint that our internet is indicating our location in Chicago, Illinois which is the last place I'd live, can be annoying but guess I don't want folks to know where I'm at anyways.

Of course when I contacted Viasat to cancel the guy pitched all sorts of deals to keep me as a customer. The deals were 10 months for more data then would go back to inflated price. Same deal when I called Direct TV. I was way overdue to make the switch.
