Which one do you have?I don’t have a Vari desk model. But I use an electronic standing desk at work and at home. They are excellent. You’ll just have to make sure you have the appropriate monitor stands or monitor arms to adjust the screen height easily when switching between standing and sitting.
Taking the time to do some cord management on setup helps keeps the workspace looking clean as well.
Thanks. What are some of the top models that you would recommend? Any with a more rustic styling?I've had about 500+ installed in the last few years. I've been steering end users away from the varidesk units that sit on top of the existing work surface. They are exceptionally better than varidesk when/if you have larger than dual 24" monitors because weight of the monitors starts making it difficult to lift the varidesk platform when you exceed a dual 24" monitor setup. Varidesk and other similar makes using the actual desk a royal PITA. I probably stand for about 1 or 2 hours a day at my desk. Sitting is hell on your lower back.
Electronic standing desk are good for like 100k cycles or more. I can only recall having an issue with 1 desk out of the many i've ordered and had installed
What did you end up buying?i originally bought the costco desk and ended up hating it because it has a bar across the bottom where my feet go. i gave it away and bought a much better one that does not have that bar on the bottom.
I don't necessary need the electric version - just seems like they are the most common. I don't like the spring loaded job that sits on top of a normal desk.Folks i eork w use stand up desks. Ok if you like that kind of thing.
Electric? If it makes you happy, go for it.
Not sure what the model is of the one at work.Which one do you have?
Where are you finding used ones?I have an electric standing desk in the office, bought myself one of the table top ones for home. Not sure on brand but the office one is a nice L-shaped unit that’s super solid. The table top one is kinda heavy and a little shaky now that I have two monitors on it. When I lift it up, it also leaves my laptop down on the desk which is a little annoying but not terrible.
It’s nice to be able to stand for an hour or two and shake out your legs a bit. I find I’m not as productive when standing standing for whatever reason so what I’m working on will sometimes dictate when I stand.
I’ve looked before and there’s usually some decent deals on used ones.
