I just bought one. I went with it over the Glock for four reasons listed in order of importance to me.
#1 - it has a fully supported chamber (not so with the Glock).
#2 - the barrel is able to shoot hard cast without issue (not so with the Glock).
#3 - better sights than the Glock
#4 - availability

If these weren’t available I would have begrudgingly bought a Glock and immediately ordered a replacement barrel 🤮

Anyway. Haven’t shot it yet but I plan to test my 200 gr cast performance loads over the chronograph as soon as it’s warm enough to go to the range. Hoping to get close to what my Sig Sauer Emperor Scorpion 10mm does (1,200 fps). I’m sure it will be less due to the shorter barrel, hoping to still break 1,150.

It doesn’t feel as good in my hand as the 1911 does and I wish it had tritium sights like the 1911 does. I’m not a huge fan of fiber optic sights for esthetic reasons only. I didn’t buy this for esthetics. I don’t find any striker fired gun to be good looking.

I bought it because it’s 12 ounces lighter than the 1911 with the same 9 cartridges loaded. I also ordered a Gunfighters Inc. Kenai chest holster and a Ronin hip holster for it.

Well I have the marsupial bino harness and the pistol holster that attaches under it . I went and fit both pistols into the holster . The Glock was the winner. It went in but wasn’t too far in enough to where I couldn’t grab it. The xd went in pretty deep and I feel I would have to fight to get it out of that holster and the last thing I would want to do while a grizzly is running at me is struggle to get the gun out that could potentially save my life or my buddies . I know it sounds minuscule but the Glock was the winner for me

That is a good reason to choose that pistol; not that you need my approval, just saying it makes perfect sense to me. A defensive weapon isn’t very useful if it can’t be in your hand immediately. I’d seriously consider ordering an aftermarket barrel.

Tyler Freel just did a 10mm pistol review on his tundra talk podcast, Compared the Springfield, Smith & Wesson, and Glock 10 mm I thought it was pretty thorough. He also talked about adding a aftermarket accessory called a gas pedal which helps control the recoil.

I’ve mentioned the aftermarket barrel for the Glock a couple of times. Not trying to beat a dead grizzly but. It’s something you should really consider if you have the Glock. Shooting Buffalo Bore or the equivalent out of a chamber that has minimal case head support isn’t the best idea. And if you intend to shoot hard cast or any other non jacketed bullets, the Glock rifling will lead up fast and become unsafe to shoot. IIRC Glock even says not to shoot non jacketed bullets.

Bonus: you can get aftermarket barrels that are longer to increase your velocity. It doesn’t increase sight radius as they poke out the end of the slide. Also need to make sure it’ll work with your holster.

What about the xtreme penetrator rounds ??
140 gr Mono metal copper at (claimed) 1,500 fps. I’d think it should do the trick. At $2 per cartridge it better. Seems a little gimmicky to me but I’ve never fired them. You should look for some independent tests. I bet they are fine to fire with a Glock. I’d buy 1 box and try them out before committing. I’ll never know personally, I roll my own.

I have both the XDM Elite and the Glock 40. XDM preformed perfectly over 400 round. No jamming. Smooth trigger pull. Recoil acceptable. I use this for my carry gun.
That’s encouraging. What loads? I’ve yet to shoot mine. With reloading components being as precious as they are I’m waiting until it’s nice out and I have time to set up the chronograph.

I got a case of PPU 180gr. I have zero regrets on this one. Mag spring is my only complaint. A little stiff still.

I had one that wouldn’t feed, bullets would jam up on the feed ramp, I sent it in and they sent me an new barrel….same thing. After talking to several people one guy was like “yeah it’s a known problem, send it back and I’ll fix it”.

I figured if it’s a known problem then why am I dealing with it. I went with a KKM and never looked back.

I have a fully custom lone wolf. Same story. I will be putting more through it soon and will switch barrels if I can't remedy.
