What's everyone's thoughts on the leopuld SK-4 or sk-5 vs vortex viper or razor? Is there a big difference between the sk-4 and 5?

Any specific reason for Leupold?

Viper scopes and similar class are unusable in my mind, but I know people use them. When atmospherics get gnarly the image quality sucks. And, they are darker when it really matter during first and last light.

Because clarity matters so much to me, I prefer 15x binos over that level spotter for everything.

For spotter, the Razor HD and the new UHD are in the first usable class. The clarity and overall performance is so much better, that I find them usable. The SC-5 is in the acceptable class. Compared to the Vortex UHD, it’s a toss up and depends on the person and probably between quality variations from production.

If new prices for the Vortex or Leupold, I would put that towards a used pair in a higher class. My favorite is the Kowa with Flourite crystal. It is lighter and requires fewer technical coatings for color correction and such.
