Spotting scope wrap

Is anybody using Camo Form tape to cover their spotters to give a modicum of protection from dirt and light surface scratches. I have a very well padded hand muff/warmer type deal, that gives pretty good protection while traveling, but looking for some light protection while in the field. I'm not looking to spend $259 bucks for a thin stay on neoprene case.
Looking to hear from those that have experience with Camo Form or other suggestions. Thanks

It seems like it should be easy, but nothing real good has ever come up that is light weight.

I’ve tried the wool sock method - a small cut at the attachment Arca plate, slice near the toes to be able to fold it back when in use. It just seems weird to me and I didn’t use it very long. Maybe if I had spent more time getting nice looking socks like the dude in this picture, it wouldn’t have felt so weird. Maybe two socks would be better to have nice stretchy openings on each end. Maybe the stretchy sleeve off a small fleece jacket wouldn’t look like a sock.

For the most part I’ve gotten in the habit of setting the scope in the middle of a light fleece jacket and folding the jacket around it as it goes into the pack. I stopped keeping the scope attached to the tripod while moving between glassing points - that’s a hassle to put the scope on and off all day, but not doing that is asking for trouble. 🙂

Yeah, I don't think I'm a fan of the sock idea, either.
Looking at the vet wrap, it looks to be a very open weave with lots of potential to attract and retain dirt and debris, as opposed to the CamoForm which seems to be tighter/denser.

I have been using the camo wrap on my Kowa 99S since they came out because nobody that I am aware of makes a decent cover them. Kowa used to make the green covers for the 88's that worked very well, then they came out with the black ones that don't cover the complete scope. I have not removed the wrap from the scope to see what it looks like under the wrap after several years of use, so I can't comment if there is any damage, but I don't think there is.

I have one of these on my Kowa and love it
