So I just received my new wise guy and boy was the trigger light. It was set to pretty much a hair trigger. I could tell right away but I wanted to see how it shot. I stepped about 5 feet from a blank target and drew back with my finger behind the trigger.

Once at anchor, my normal process is to slide my finger over and hook second knuckle and then pull through. Well heck, if I even touched the trigger it would go off.

So I have turned it about 5 half turns counter clockwise and it is much better now. Any one have a similar experience? Is anyone shooting it real hot at factory settings?

I like the zero trigger travel so far. Seems like it will be a real shooter once I get used to it.

Love to hear others experiences!

The wise guy is one of the best index finger releases out there. Most have no adjustments to them.

I left mine light. When I'm setting up to shoot I place my finger on the indentation on the release arm then all I need to do is apply slight pressure against the side of the trigger. Requires very little movement to release the arrow and works well for me.

I have respect for you guys who are shooting it as is out of the box. I could blow on it and it would fire!

Thank you for all for the feedback. For those who have adjusted theirs... Do you think two full turns is a lot?

I personally couldn't tell much of a difference in the adjustments with mine until the screw was backed almost all the way out. I ended up just removing the screw altogether and it is still plenty light and crisp for my liking.

I set mine way colder than the factory set. I am like you, i like to have my finger on the trigger and then pull through the shot. The lighter set seems to make me anticipate the shot too much. I ended up experimenting with mine a lot and finally settled on a middle ground. Even with the adjustment to the heaviest it will go, it is still relatively light compared to my old Scott. I shoot it somewhere right in the middle and have had good luck with it. Very crisp release with no travel.

Mine was so light out of the box I couldn't draw my bow with out holding the trigger forward. I shoot it with two turns, which still might be lighter than what you have. Just personal preference, and mine is still very light compared to the other index triggers I have.

After this thread started I went to the bow shop and shot one. I really liked that it's very similar to my tru-fire hardcore max except that there isn't any travel and a very light trigger. I decided to buy one online from bowhunters superstore for $68 so we'll see how it goes

To be honest with you, I couldn't stand the wise guy. It only has 1 adjustment... they call it an adjustment for the trigger pull, but all you are adjusting for is a longer travel so it feels heavier. You cannot adjust the weight without changing the travel and you cannot make this trigger pull heavy. I personally feel this release is kind of over rated. I love cam haines and I love spot hogg sights... but this release is decent at best.

Many of the ones from tru ball, scott, truball and especially CARTER have actual travel AND tension adjustment. Be it by spring changes or other means.

Not to piss on anyone's favorite release.. just giving my opinion.

I am really going to sound like a jerk... But this is why the pro shop style archery shops where good quality and great service are dying off like dodo birds. Everyone goes to kick the tires at the local guy, but then elect to save 15 bucks by buying online. Then we all bitch about the fact that our good shops are closing and we are left with cabelas, bass pro, scheels with crap service.

Buy from the little guy, support archers and pros that actually have a clue what they are doing and are not just selling for volume.

I got the truball HBC... it is PERFECT. It has the same handle design as the longhorn, but the same adjustable head as the HT series from truball. I watched the video with Reo about the new Honey Badger X coming out this summer....

I will be about 500 bucks into 2 freaking releases hahaha

Back to the original subject... Sorry

One thing I might caution folks about with a really light trigger pull is that it can be a contributing factor towards getting target panic. I learned that the hard way and have spent years trying to reverse the damage.
