spoke to KUIU today, no ultra merino 145 till mid-late October

Got some bad news today when I finally called KUIU. I asked about the 145 Ultra merino I have had on back order from August. I was told none of the colors would be here till mid-late October. This means that by the time it's processed and sent to me the only hunt that I will have to actually use a 145 merino will be a archery hunt in AZ. All else will be too cold. Not happy about that, just hoping it is worth the wait.

I had the same issue. They originally said when I was contemplating an order at the beginning of August that the delivery would definitely be at the end of August, so I placed an order. Obviously, they were way off with their estimate, maybe something went wrong with production. Ordered some first lite today to replace it.

I am thinkinkg of canceling both my kryptek and kuiu orders and just going straight first lite. Can't beleive both companies are that far behind. I also ordered some of the new RR barren camo stuff. Not the quality of the other companies but at least it gets here when I order it.

Go with First Light. They also have a new Camo out that looks very thought out and very good. I have both Kuiu and FL and always seem to favor my FL.

You'll be happy with the first lite. All my other base/mid layers stay at home since picking up a few FL pieces this year.

I have several pieces of FL as well. Just always went with others for outter layers. The new camo looks awesome, but those outter layers won't be available in the new pattern till Nov. as well.

I wear other outer layers as well (Sitka) but was changing my base layers and thought the new kuiu looked good. I have the 125 Ultra Merino LS and its decent, but obviously can't get any of the other layers for this season. first lite will be the choice this year now. ordered a chama qz, llano LS, Alleghany bottoms. new camo looks awesome, but I don't really care at this point because I have the Sitka outer layers so I just ordered the best deal I could find (blackovis).

I had a 145. It lasted about 5 hours before it wore holes under my pack belt. Kuiu says its normal wear and won't do anything about it. I've never had that issue with my first lite. I will be wearing them from now on.

got the 145 zip T yesterday that I had ordered in August. Looks like kuiu got a shipment. I had already purchased first lite and my first impressions are that first lite is more comfortable. Leaving this Friday for 9 days in the backcountry so it will be interesting to compare them.
