Had a 105 Berger VLD grenade on the shoulder of an antelope doe a few years ago, shot from a 6XC at about 150 yards. Wasn't too happy with that performance.

Cow elk at 500 and nice pronghorn at 380. Same ole 215 berger, mv 2930 , 300 PRC , a bit behind the crease. Bang flop on PH, zero meat damage with that shot. Cow, same spot, ran 40 yards downhill and plowed a furrow in the snow. Good and boring. Maybe it's not a match bullet. Maybe it's a death bullet.

I shot one with a 155 gr hornady a-max in 308. 200 yards broadside, bullet passed thru, left a hole like a typical soft point. went about 30 yards and dropped.

seen them killed with a .17 Hornet and 20gr bullet. Any centerfire and any bullet essential is great Antelope medicine...range is the limiting factor.

I shoot match bullets for deer/elk and use them for antelope too. I don't specifically load for antelope though. Always kills them. I've shot them with .243, 300wm and 6.5 cm.

Likewise. Critters have rarely had feedback about the projectile being a match bullet.

Do you think that had to do with velocity on impact? A lot of thin jacketed bullets will have a hard time staying together when impact velocities are extreme.

Match bullets buck the wind better. Antelope country can be pretty windy. That’s why I would use them if I ever draw a tag.

Because "traditional hunting bullets" make smaller wound channels, especially on something the size of a large dog like an antelope.
In addition to the external ballistics, the terminal ballistics are superior as well.

Shot two last year with 140 elite hunters with perfect performance. Both were right in the neighborhood of 300-305 yards. MV of 2780.

Shot a doe last weekend with an 88 gr ELDM out of my 22 Creedmoor. Distance was 430 yards, frontal shot just left of center. She piled up in about 20 yards or so.

I think it depends on the match bullet. I killed a antelope doe and a couple of coyotes with the 120 Matchking. Looked like the bullet zipped through with no expansion. This was out of my .260. This year I killed my bear with a 130 ELDm out of my 6.5CM. Like mentioned above, stay off the shoulders.

I know this is an old thread but thought some might like to know. 123gr 6.5 matchking doesn’t seem to expand either. Tried them out of a 6.5-284 on coyotes and all but one ran 50-75 yards. They shot great though.

What was your muzzle velocity? Did the bullet exit? Did it seem like the bullet expanded well?

77 TMK handloads, 2350 impact velocity. Shooting suppressed so he didn't run at the shot, just walked 30 yards and fell over. Vitals were soup.
