Sony Alpha a6000

It's a solid camera for the price. It has a fast auto focus and blazing fast shooting at over 12 frames per second. The kit lenses aren't great but none of the kit lenses for any brand really are. I like it cause its pretty light and compact but still takes good photos and has interchangeable lenses and doesn't break the bank. I don't love all the menu navigation but it's not the worst I've used either. I think you get more for your money with Sony than Canon or Nikon but I've been hearing good things about some of the Pentax cameras a well.

I have had mine for about 9 months now and love it. With the kit lens, it fits in a hip pouch and its really easy to use (decent pics in auto mode) and there are a lot of reviews and tutorials on it too. The mirrorless is the best for backpacking, its so small and light. And the lenses are smaller because of that too. I have some prime lenses for it from other companies like Canon and use an adapter to get some nice shots.

People will say the kit lens sucks, but honestly its a great lens for what it is. Its awesome for "walking around" and there are good lenses with Zeiss glass all over. I bought my camera with kit lens and the 55-210 used for $650 and then the adapter for $13 and a CCTV prime lens for $35. I also got a cheap IR remote, and some third party batteries for a total of $22 (remote and batteries). I can take that and my 64g card out for a week and be set.

I have an a6000 as well and I really like it so far. I'm a camera noon as well..I've always had a knack for framing shots but now I'm learning the nuts and bolts of photography and it's a blast! Can't wait to bring my camera along to NM bear hunting in a few weeks!

Would you mind sharing which batteries and remote you bought? I need more batteries, the a6000 is a battery hog!
