I have an a6000 as well and I really like it so far. I'm a camera noon as well..I've always had a knack for framing shots but now I'm learning the nuts and bolts of photography and it's a blast! Can't wait to bring my camera along to NM bear hunting in a few weeks!I have had mine for about 9 months now and love it. With the kit lens, it fits in a hip pouch and its really easy to use (decent pics in auto mode) and there are a lot of reviews and tutorials on it too. The mirrorless is the best for backpacking, its so small and light. And the lenses are smaller because of that too. I have some prime lenses for it from other companies like Canon and use an adapter to get some nice shots.
People will say the kit lens sucks, but honestly its a great lens for what it is. Its awesome for "walking around" and there are good lenses with Zeiss glass all over. I bought my camera with kit lens and the 55-210 used for $650 and then the adapter for $13 and a CCTV prime lens for $35. I also got a cheap IR remote, and some third party batteries for a total of $22 (remote and batteries). I can take that and my 64g card out for a week and be set.
