We had a slow week with not a ton of deer moving (Jan 13-18). 2 small bucks shots by us first timers. Still had a great adventure!

Curious how everybody's experience was? We were down from the 16th-23rd. We had good rut activity on our ranch but other ranches were reporting slow behavior. We went 4/4. Ranch quality and grazing plays a bigger role than I think some realize.

We were there the 22-26 and rut was good. Grass was really tall which made for some tough glassing. All 4 killed bucks. Nothing giant, but solid bucks.

I mean it’s a statement purely from ignorance. I don’t know much about traveling to Mexico and I’ve only ever been out of the country 3x. I just feel like going to Mexico off of a resort is a crap shoot. If you have to have a guide there to make sure you are safe, id say it’s probably a risky trip. Not saying don’t do it, plenty of people do. I am just bewildered by it. Again, no judgement, braver than I.

No offense taken, I was just curious about what you meant. There can be some uneasy parts. I just did my 3rd year down there and I still keep my guard up. The most stressful part to me is getting to the ranch. Once you’re there it’s fine. As soon as you cross the border it feels like all eyes are on you and we’ve had some moments here and there. Part of it adds to the adventure of going but you definitely want to follow some common sense protocols and it’s fine

These Mexican outfitters know how to operate and how hunts are expected to run. In my hunt a US outfitter has leased the ranch we hunted for the past 6 years. American guides know the ranch well and were our guides. We are staying on a ranch in the middle of know where with a ranch owner who understand the money we bring from hunting their ranches and ensure hunts are safe and fun. As long as you don’t go into town and cause problems there really is no problems hunting there. Just like any country things can go sideways unexpectedly but I would feel safer in the ranch I was at then many Mexico towns that are big tourist towns.

Guys, no convincing me. I believe you. I surely believe the ranch owners and ranch hands and guide other very best to protect their investments and customers. I have no doubt. It’s not them I don’t trust, it’s the behavior of the criminals I do trust.

The Narcos have nothing to gain by harming harming an American hunter. You are safer on those ranches than most big cities in the US. Your security on that ranch has been bought and paid for.

It was never the ranch I questioned guys, it was to and from. Again, I’m not arguing just curious
