Buddy and I are going in 2026. Fly in, drop off style hunt. Will be in mountainous terrain but dropped off at a lake so tent footprint size isn’t an issue

Would you go with a tipi style 6/8 man tent or each take solo backpack tents? Weight is about the same

We did one trip with a seek outside tipi. I'm not sure which one, but like a 4 person. The hang out space was nice but condensation was considerable.

This year's trip we each took a two-man tent and found that to be more comfortable. It's kind of nice to have your personal mess confined.

I wouldn't take a tipi again without the ability to burn wood.

2 people in 8 man tent with stove. Lots of comfort room. Orange tarp was covering our macguivere’d meat pole.
We had boat transport so could bring easy burn logs which worked great. Also had a buddy heater, we were glamping. But there were willows all near us we hypothetically could have cut and used.
Whatever bear fence sportsman’s in Fairbanks sold. Fortunately never had to see how well it worked but it wasn’t exactly cheap so I suspect woulda worked.

tipi for me
wood can be very scarce, it depends on where you are, look at the pic above

think of it this way, there is not much wood there and if other camps used the area ----

Three questions

People say it’s hard to find enough wood to burn when caribou hunting, is that true?

What bear fence is that?

Did your buddy stay in the orange tent?

Bring earplugs if your buddy snores like me🤣 . The wax “duraflame” logs were 👌
