Forgetting all the science, this is what I have.
Daily quick dry pants: Duluth dry on the fly, Eddie Bauer guide pants.
Rain jacket: OR Skyward jacket in light blue
Rain pant: Fjallraven Keb Eco Shell
All of this is solid colors.
It is just my personal preference, but I won’t buy goretex if I have a choice.

The issue about solid colors is it doesn’t matter. By the time you have a pack on and a bino harness, the pattern is broken up anyway.

The Eco shell are totally bad ass. Full length YKK zippers, Pockets, 30k rated breathable, inside scuff guards for spikes or shoes or ??. They wear like regular pants all day. They don’t feel like pull over rain pants. They are sold at the store in Portland. If anything ever goes wrong, they are guaranteed for life.

I feel like this disregards the material science behind lower friction coefficients and hydrophobic properties that are behind most things that are considered early season or the Chemisorption by reactive side amino acids that powers merino wool.

Prana's stretch zion pants are amazing. Over the years I've worn a lot of different brands of nylon outdoor pants (Patagonia, Arcteryx, Simms, Mtnhardware, etc) and these are far and away my favorites. And, often on sale for 40-50% off, which is nice if you are hard on gear.
